TIL something about brokerage transfers

I would wire/ACH round number amounts into my brokerage and get frustrated that wires weren't available instantly and ACHs weren't available first thing in the morning on the day available.

I either saw something on my brokerage website or asked a customer service rep about this (not *today* disclaimer, a few months ago). I learned that because there are so many transfers moving through, it helps match them to the right accounts faster if you use the last four digits of your brokerage account number in the dollar amount.

So for an account ending in 1234, transfer $5012.34 instead of $5000.

It works, I see my money show up faster with fewer delays. Maybe the rest of you already knew this, but I thought I'd share just in case.

Can I switch from regular 401k to individual/solo 401k?

I have a consulting firm in California. I have a sole prop EIN (for health insurance and some other companies requirements) and an S-Corp EIN. My wife and minor children are on the sole prop payroll (through OnPay). I am on the S-Corp payroll (Gusto). I had an admin on the S-Corp payroll as well, but I laid her off after tax season. So I no longer have non-family adult employees in either entity.

I was told by Guideline that the entities were considered a control group, so I have a 401k plan for each one. My wife opts out, and I only contribute through my S-Corp.

I don't plan to rehire an admin. If I do, it'd be part time, maybe seasonal, less than 500 hours a year.

Can I switch to just having a solo 401k? Do I need two 401ks still? Would this change affect my startup retirement tax credit (plans started 2023, so I'm in year 4)? Do you have a provider recommendation other than Guideline? Integrated with Gusto is nice but not a requirement. More looking to save fees at this point. Paying $165/mo, mainly because of the control group factor.

[Landlord US-CA] Who Goes on the Lease?

My SIL is lazy, but has kids that we love (then three, now five). Three teens and two young elementary. She was renting a two-bedroom and had mixed genders in one room.

We bought a 4BD house to rent to her. I know, I know. Once the teens move out we hope to phase out of this and sell it. The occasional conflicts around this aren't big enough to make it work kicking them out and selling it sooner.

She pays rent that she can afford, just under market rate, we take a small loss on cash flow, but we can afford it comfortably.

My SIL has a live-in boyfriend/fiance. He's the dad of the younger two kids. She works, he is a SAHD I guess. He's very private and has rejected most of our attempts to build relationship. Oh well. He's been the source of most of the conflict around this.

Oldest kid is now 18, turning nineteen next month. Going to college locally, he'll stay living at home for now.

Next kid turns 18 in Oct. She'll stay at home at least until Dec when she graduates HS.

Who needs to sign the lease? Everyone over 18? Just SIL and boyfriend?

What rights/obligations do they each get by signing or not signing?

Kuttin Wealth Management experience?

I connected with a guy from this firm and got on his email list. Apparently the firm is high up in Ameriprise ranks. I'm getting invited to a one-day tax professional growth summit out in New York, and they are offering to cover flight and hotel. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with them and if there's anything I should watch out for.
