I thought I was done making edits. Turns out I just lie to myself until I hear another song that’s begging for an edit.

Can we please talk about the aging in this show? Holy shit. Somehow through a mix of incredible acting and impeccable hairstyling, they actually physically LOOK all those ages all within the span of a couple of months of filming.

You can tell even from just a screenshot without even watching the scene. It's SO realistic.

I have literally never seen a show that masters aging like this. It's always comically noticeable, or no effort was put in at all. In Lost, they used the worst wigs known to man, because apparently more hair = younger, no matter what it looked like. Old age makeup is always noticeable to me, and even if it looks semi-decent, actors rarely change how they carry themselves to account for it.

This show took every tiny nuance of the human experience of aging and nailed it to a T without doing anything crazy. They were all very subtle things that, in their subtlety, were the things that made it so believable. No major makeup, no stereotypically wild hair to "show the era" (movies set in the 80s kill me with this). There was literally nothing crazy noticeable at all about how they were aging... and that's why it's perfect and so utterly realistic. It's in the tiny details. The differences in how they carry themselves, their posture, slight clothes differences, a slightly different brush of hair bangs. Even with clothes, it wasn't stereotypically 2008 or 2017. There were no 2000s puka shell necklaces or 2010s indie sleaze skinny jeans. But a kid would wear a basic hoodie with his hood up and chew on the string. And an adult will wear the same simple blue linen collared shirt a bunch of times, a little wrinkly, and stand up taller. Shane's confidence boost after coming out to Rose aged him significantly. He always looked like he was on the verge of tears in a very childlike way in eps 1&2. But by 6, he has a handle on himself like an adult and has more of a commanding presence.

Ilya's facial expressions as a kid were lifeless and draining, because he's a literal child with the weight of the world on his shoulders. But as an adult, now having cut ties with Russia, his face just seems more settled and relaxed. More sure of things. Just more normal.

I am on my n-teenth reheat and I am still picking apart new things about why they physically look their corresponding ages. They don't hint at being a different age through exposition, or play it up in stupidly obvious ways -- you can actually visually see it because they actually physically embody it wholeheartedly in just their presence.

It's absolutely insane. This show is just a complete masterclass in how to do everything right in filmmaking and I will never get over it.

Not a graphic designer by ANY means but recently started fucking around with Adobe Illustrator because why not. Wanted to try something with simple shapes. Made an alternate Pens logo! I love the vintage circle design in the 60s logos.

(Shapes aren’t perfect but I ran out of steam. 😮‍💨)

Where can I print in color using my own paper?

Everything I see about Staples or FedEx uses their paper, like you order online and they print it for you. I am printing stickers on special vinyl paper that I can use in my Cricut machine, so I want to be able to swap my paper in. Any ideas?

I know CPL doesn’t do color, and I tried DePaul since I’m an alumni but apparently alumni don’t have printer access. 🙃

Impulsively bought a sticker machine today solely so I could design this candle.

Any psychologists here want to tell me what the hell is happening to my brain in terms of addiction to HR?

I am not just joking here, I’m genuinely serious. I think my brain has formed a chemical dependency on this damn show.

I was road tripping the other day, and the entire time I was driving all I wanted to do is pull over and consume content. It was like I was going through actual chemical withdrawal of not being able to watch for a few hours, and I was feeling actual side effects like restlessness.

I think about this show when I wake up, during the day, and before bed. I am constantly rewatching the best parts to get my “fix,” like those scenes are literal drug hits. I have put off actual life tasks in order to watch sometimes.

I have launched into the fanfic world, and I’m constantly reading. I have never read this much in my life.

I also have never been able to consume the same content over and over again on this scale without getting sick of it, like it still provides insane dopamine hits. I definitely get addicted to songs that I repeat a million times, so I know my brain is predisposed to this, but TV shows not as much. This is getting ridiculous.

I can literally feel it chemically coursing through my veins and when I don’t get HR content at least 1221 times a day, I feel withdrawal.

What is going on?? I saw a comedian joke that HR was straight up black tar heroin and I don’t think it was so much of a joke. This is happening to women everywhere, it’s not just me.

Psychologists, please weigh in! I am genuinely curious if there is any research to suggest why this is happening to people on a mass scale!

This edit utterly broke my heart. If only Heath Ledger could've seen the overwhelming love and support HR has gotten after he faced endless homophobic criticism over Brokeback Mountain. We wouldn't have HR if it wasn't for this movie coming first. Thank your gay elders during Pride month, folks. ♥

(Source unknown sadly, I saw it on FB.)

My current WIP, High Fidelity [Ilya POV], about a collusion scandal between the Metros and Raiders, and Ilya escaping the strict lockdown and media circus to get to Shane. Cliff and Hayden become the two stooges of wingmen to get Romeo & Juliet together.

High Fidelity (sequel) by me, banthafodder87.

The first one, High Voltage, was supposed to be a one-off but people seemed to like Ally Cliff, so continuing the vibes! You don’t necessarily need to read it to understand the gist of this one, but it is short if you want to. (Ilya organizes a truce between the Metros & Raiders with a joke note so that he can dance with Shane in a nightclub, and at said club, Cliff picks up on the vibes and figures them out. Now in the sequel, someone finds the truce note and leaks it to the media, along with pictures of the teams at the club together, leading to a collusion scandal in the middle of the playoffs. But Ilya couldn’t give two shits about the potential crumbling of his career, all he cares about is Shane. Cliff breaks him out of a mandated lockdown to see him, antics ensue.)

There's a theme in the books that Ilya is dying to dance with Shane in a club. We have yet to see that, so I wrote it. And who doesn't love a "Cliff Finds Out" trope? My second fic! "High Voltage" by banthafodder87

All Ilya Rozanov has ever wanted to do is dance with Shane Hollander in a nightclub.

So, naturally, he plots and orchestrates a twelve-hour truce between Boston and Montreal to make it happen. It's the perfect cover... assuming they can actually blend in and not get caught.

But between their instinctual domesticity and a very drunk, clingy Shane, staying under the radar is a lot harder than it looks. Especially when Cliff Marleau is sitting right across the table.

(or, Cliff puts the pieces together when Shane gets wasted, Ilya's boyfriend mode is too obvious, and he catches them sexy dancing in the club.)

Welp. I don’t think this is the last year for the core. They fought too hard and I could see a fire in them that you can’t just end it all with.

It was an honor to watch this season with you all 🫡🖖

LGP, FTF, go Canes, and we’ll get there next year.

Someone get me a box of tissues.
