Some useless data

Using God_Man_008's data: https://www.reddit.com/r/IATtards/comments/1ujtv7j/iat2026_data_mapping_overall_picture_path_forward/

This table can be derived:

CRL Rank Estimated GE* Candidates ≤ CRL
500 287
1000 594
1500 907
2000 1222
2500 1539
3000 1859
3500 2180
4000 2502
4500 2825
5000 3138
5500 3400
6000 3653
6500 3900
7000 4140
7500 4372
8000 4600
8500 4832

As round 2 is done and last rank was 4073.

So now between 4073 and 8000 lies ~2000 (2093) actual ge students* not around 4K.

Is that a bad thing? good thing? IDK

IAT 2026 last seat cutoff rank prediction [GE*ERAL]

For marks vs ranks see: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/6gr8tnrn7s

source: u/God_man_008

Facts:

  1. 2024’s cutoff (4484) is irrelevant:

The 2025 seat expansion and addition of new programs significantly increased the final closing rank (4484 -> 8769), making 2025 a much better baseline for future predictions than 2024.

  1. We have accurate 2025 and 2026 marks vs rank data so we if use that:
  • 2025 final cutoff for Berhampur: ~118 marks -> rank 8769.
  • The same 118 marks in the 2026 model yields rank ≈8652.

so even if the required score for admission stayed exactly the same, the closing rank would automatically shift to ~8650

  1. Adjusting for known 2026 changes:
  • more seats & 2 new institutes/programmes: These increase supply and disperse candidate preferences. They allow the last admitted student to have a slightly worse rank, moving the cutoff upward from the 8650 baseline. Empirical estimates for such moderate expansions add roughly 100‑200 ranks.
  • Yield & withdrawal behaviour: Later counselling rounds always see some rank drift. If withdrawals are typical, the cutoff edges further up (optimistic). If candidates hold their seats more tightly, it stays closer to the baseline (pessimistic). These effects are bounded and unlikely to shift the cutoff by more than ±300 ranks from the adjusted baseline.

Final PREDICTION (for GEN) - last round - last rank to get seat:

Scenario Adjustment Final rank estimate
Pessimistic Minimal seat expansion effect; fewer withdrawals → cutoff tightens ≈8450
Conservative Only the marks‑model shift, no other changes ≈8650
Most likely Seat expansion + normal late‑round drift ≈8800
Optimistic Strong withdrawal drift and dispersion ≈9150

IAT 2026 vs 2025

Thanks to u/God_Man_008

2025 source : https://www.reddit.com/r/IATtards/comments/1mfx5ul/useful_info_check_it_out_and_comment/

2026 source: https://www.reddit.com/r/IATtards/comments/1uj0qwx/iat2026_raw_data_first_cut_information/

Desmos link: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/6gr8tnrn7s

So we see 2026 has rank inflation at higher ranks.

Below previous year cutoffs it doesn't vary much.

At 10k rank: 114.4 (2026) vs 112.6 (2205)

At 12k rank: 110 (2026) vs 106 (2025)

How rank is decided in IAT if marks are same?

Is it like: Higher in bio > Higher in Maths > higher RIGHT:WRONG ratio?

Guys did everybody did this question with intuition?

Kinda things IAT want us to derive in exam pressure :(
