Experience with murphy beds for full time use?

Trying to convince my partner to move into my small apartment (would save us about $15,000/year EACH) as opposed to renting a two bed/larger one bed, which go for about double what I'm paying where we live. He is fully remote, I WFH two days per week. My proposition is that with our delicious savings, we could get a pretty nice murphy bed with a desk component (for me) as well as some additional storage. He'd use my current set up in the living room and on the days I WFH we'd pull down the murph, and if he wants to blob on the bed during working hours Tues-Thurs, there'll be nobody stopping him.

I expect we'll stay in our current city for the next two years, so this isn't a rest-of-life decision. In my eyes, even if we only last a year because it's too horrible, we still come out on top.

Looking for people's experiences with murphy beds. Most I see are from folks who bring it down a couple times a year for holiday guests. Has anyone used one long term? Suggestions?

Trying to the find the name of this style rug (low pile, flat textured)

Not sure what the right term is for this rug I have. My parents gave it to me when I moved out and I want to get another because it's apparently impervious to cat scratching. I asked my folks and they just said "oriental" which is indeed the design, but I don't think the weave style is strictly oriental.

It has a very low pile with no obvious "loops" like you see on other rugs. The texture is almost silky/fleece-like (not in a ruggable sort of way). "Flat weave" is how I would describe it but when I google that, those look very nubby. This rug is very smooth. Any ideas?

Has anyone here taken the IACCP exam?

Just finished up my last course and am looking to schedule my exam soon. Feeling a bit frustrated because the study materials are so expensive and limited in scope. Ironically, there is limited transparency into that fact before purchasing. The exam itself is 106 questions, the two study question banks you can buy for $50 bucks a pop are only 50 questions. There is an optional group study session, but it's $340 lol.

Anyway, rant over.

My boss/former coworker who took it ~15+ years ago recall it being super hard. I get about 70% correct on the study banks, but my deficiencies are in obvious categories so I know where to focus. Can anyone shed some light into your experience taking the exam? Is it as hard as suggested? How long did you study, and if you could do the process over again, how would you approach the prep process?

Small format exercise studios?

Fed up with the gym situation around here (i.e. crunch). Due to work it's not feasible for me to exercise in the AM and by the time I get there after work I can't use a single piece of equipment I want without waiting. If I try to follow my routine, an hour long workout easily takes 2 or more. The overall quality/cleanliness of that gym has also gone down.

I've been prioritizing cost but I'm willing to spend up to $200/month at this point. I know in this neighborhood it doesn't get me far but figured I'd put out feelers if anybody has any recs. I want to stay between 72nd and 83rd street.

Momentum Fitness looks promising, but the class times are kinda tricky (usually already left for work, or not usually back from work). Also mostly looking for strength-based classes and they seem to focus mostly on pilates/barre/hiit. Already run so not looking to do more cardio.

Was considering solidcore but it looks almost impossible to actually book a class unless you plan 10 days in advance or go at 10PM.

How to short a short sleeve to a cap sleeve?

Hi there! Looking for advice on how to shorten normal short sleeves on an exercise top to cap sleeves. I can find advice on drafting cap sleeves when making a garment from scratch, or simply cutting off t-shirt sleeves to shorten them, but I'm a novice so I guess I was hoping to find a happy medium between those two approaches.

I'm not sure if I need to remove the sleeve altogether, cut, then reattach? I'm hesitant to do so since I don't have a serger and I want to minimize my alterations to the original garment.

Shirt for reference (hope okay to link to amazon)

Thanks for your help
