On a reread and have made it back to this chapter. I’d forgotten just how awful it is. It’s genuinely staggering how bad Egwene behaves here. More or less everything she says about Nynaeve is true, but the hypocrisy she shows is off the charts. Attacking her for using the dream world while not properly trained and lying when she is literally using the dream world while not properly trained, and is lying about it to the Wise Ones.

And there’s the fact that she subjects Nynaeve to an attempted SA, or perhaps worse. Doing that under any circumstances to a friend would be bad enough, but doing it as punishment for something she herself is doing is even worse.

This scene feels like the point of no return for me with Egwene’s character. I cannot root for someone who would do this.
