Alternatives to soy based sauces?

Unfortunately we have had to drop the use of soy based sauces due to SNAS.

While the eliminated vegetables are negotiable, what we struggle with is sauces. We generally use a lot of soy-based sauces like soy, miso, red bean paste... all which are now off limits.

What I'm left with is honey, vinegars, lemon juice, sweet chili... But for a lot of the usual stir fries this just doesn't do it for me - I much prefer the soy umami over the sweetened sauces.

Same question for coconut milk - cream sauces seem a good alternative for tomato sauce, but if you're vegan you'll need plant-based cream...

Has anyone figured this one out yet? I miss my soy...

FreezerGuard vrieskist

Thanks!

For those that forage blackberries: What do you make with them?

We love making blackberry cobbler and the obvious jam, but we're getting so many blackberries from our garden that I will not stand for 50 jars of jam lol.

I tried making blackberry cookies yesterday but that was kinda disappointing. What else do you guys make with it?

Edit: you guys are awesome, thanks for the inspiration!!

Anyone playing in Europe's current heatwave?

I have two competition matches scheduled for tomorrow 7 pm, heat warnings are orange in my region and the opponents already asked if we might reschedule (which is a huge pain on its own) - the upside is that we play indoors, so our captain wants it to continue if the weather doesn't get hotter.

How are you guys handling this heat? I've played tennis matches in 30 degrees before but those were outdoors, I feel like indoors at hotter temperatures might be better than playing outside in the burning sun?

What's your trick to not becoming "nonchalant" when playing against lesser players? Could be bad movers, soft servers etc.

I'm sure you guys have noticed that playing with or against better players will often times dramatically increase your skill bottom, which I find very fun. But sometimes I play friendly matches against folks from a, let's just say, "lower skill level", and I find myself getting very nonchalant when I have time to spare, and then making errors off of that.

Instead I would like to get in the headspace where, even still, I focus myself to get my footwork right every time, and play the right shots, instead of just acting lazy and getting balls in without it.

Any advice on this?

Me for scale ~1.75m

Tucked away in the slightly overgrown darker corner of the arboretum I met this giant. I wouldn't have found it if I didn't explore of the main path either, very happy that I did!! Unfortunately the entire tree couldn't fit in the photo, as there was no more space to walk back.
Every time I view this picture I am awe-struck again haha. Like standing under it made me feel insanely appreciative of what nature can do, given the right circumstances.
