Missing something? NY

Missing something? NY

I get that we're going for inclusive language here, but it strikes me as very odd that one of the criteria mentioned here isn't "physical recuperation for birthing person" ya know? Like, are surrogates not entitled to FMLA? Or folks carrying with the intention of giving for adoption?

Dad is going to rehab tomorrow

Itll be his second time but the first was in 2021 so it was very locked down, no one could drive him there or visit or anything. I've been avoiding him like the plague because he's so difficult to be around and I'm working on my own sobriety because I'm afraid of turning into him. I think I need to be brave and go see him tonight before he goes (and mind you he hasn't actually told me he's going, I just know from my mom and brother who have been hands-on with him these past weeks). But it's still a scary thought.

I feel like this time around my job is to be the one who validates him? My mom and brother are making arrangements and sharing their opinions on what he should do, and I'm just like "at the end of the day it's completely up to you." I know no one else could have told me to stop drinking, I had to hear it from myself at the exact right moment and decide that this time was the time to act. But is it weird that I'm showing up tonight and playing dumb about what might be happening tomorrow? I can make up a reason why I'm coming but I don't want to lie. I just think I need to remind him that I love him.

That's it. Finding this sub reminded me I'm not alone. I just miss my "old" dad so much, or whatever version of him my mind invented so that I could miss it. He's had a problem for a long time but the past almost-decade has really been new bad territory. He's also depressed, narcissistic, has early onset Parkinson, the dude is a mess. And alcohol just makes it all worse. Thanks for listening and supporting.

Of course the pamphlet in my seat is folded wrong so that this page was peeking out from the pocket

The same week I learn our timeline is going to be pushed back even more because I need fibroid surgery and then a 6month try-atus post-op

u/textbook-gemini — 28 days ago

a momentary venting session

we had our follow-up with our fertility doc this AM who confirmed that surgery to remove my fibroid is indicated. i'm relieved, at least we will have that dealt with.

then, in reviewing my old medical records i found this from a previous ultrasound because they could never find my IUD strings at my annual visits:

""Within the posterior uterine wall is a 3.6 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm circumscribed heterogeneous lesion which is isoechoic to the adjacent uterine parenchyma with small areas of posterior shadowing compatible with a fibroid”"

they knew about A'ja Wilson (that's what i named my fibroid since she's so good on defense) TWO YEARS AGO. And it never occurred to anyone that it might be relevant to all that's happened since?

The THREE attempts it took to get my IUD out

The heavy and painful periods that I have powered through at work, all while enduring baseline paranoia that I might have a wardrobe malfunction and need to step away in the middle of a crucial moment (I'm not in an office job)

The severe anemia for which I now need iron infusions,

my rectal prolapse FOR WHICH I HAD SURGERY and persistent constipation even post-op

NONE OF THIS GOT PUT TOGETHER UNTIL NOW?!?!

I'm relieved to have answers and impatient to get this surgery scheduled, and really bummed that we will have to wait 6 months post-op to start trying to get pregnant again. I know my time to be a mommy will come, I've been working so hard for so long to get ready just to start trying, and anyway thank you for coming to my TED talk.

One day - where to stay/park

We are coming for Friday only from the nyc area, and dropped the ball on lodging. We can stay with family an hour away in CT Thursday night, but from there what's our best way to get in on Friday? We are VERY open to boats, park-and-bike, any and all options that don't involve parking on site. Would we be fools to try to go all the way home after the final acts Friday night?
