0.1 twice a day!?

18M using tretinoin for acne - it’s helped a ton but i keep getting some stubborn lesions. I’ve been on 0.1 nightly for a month along with benzoyl peroxide wash about 3 times a week. She said my skin is quite resilient - I haven’t had any peeling or significant irritation (except for a couple bad spats when I overused benzoyl peroxide, but nothing some Cicaplast couldn’t handle). Therefore she suggested using tret twice a day, morning and night. She said it will be fine with sunlight, just avoid it where you can and wear sunscreen as usual. But won’t I need to spend some time indoors in the morning to ensure it doesn’t degrade first, and roughly how long? And ultimately, could this actually help my acne?

Edit:

nightly 0.1 tret for the last month
nightly 0.025 tret (Treclin) for 1.5 months prior
nightly 0.1 adapelene for 3 months prior to that

Air India 787 fear

I flew the Air India 787-8s a lot growing up between the UK and India. The cabin was always abysmal but the flights obviously safe. However, the crash last year was just terrifying - it felt a little too close to home considering I had flown them so much and between the same countries too. Now, I may have to go to India later this month, which will involve flying the same plane. I know it’s irrational and that nothing is likely to happen, but I can’t stop worrying about it. And the alternative flight route without Air India involves a 737 Max - also a little scary, but I have flown them multiple times since the MCAS update so I’m not too shaky on that.

I’m in my first year at studying Aeronautical Engineering at university, so rationally, I should be less scared, but I’m more scared of flying than ever before. Flight is some fascinating science and I know just how rigorous the safety standards are, but I guess I can’t stop fearing the out-of-control. Like an explosive decompression in the sky.

Tretinoin 0.1 vs Tazarotene 0.05 for acne?

Wanted to know if anyone has had experience with both of these doses specifically and what differences were like, particularly around acne. I tolerate tret 0.1 nightly without much irritation (which is a blessing, as my skin is already naturally dry leaning). However, I still have some stubborn microtexture and I still get some stubborn pimples.

Is there no winning for clog-prone people when it comes to SPF?

I want an SPF that will protect me well - I don’t reapply but I’m very bad with routines so even doing it religiously in the mornings is a big thing for me. I also have brown skin and don’t really burn so I don’t FEEL an imminent ‘need’ to be wearing it every day, hence I need one that’s low-fuss to get by. I don’t do persistent outdoor activities but I may spend a couple hours in the sun a day plus more time around windows.

I’ve been using Beauty of Joseon Aquafresh - it’s a little pricey but it makes me look the least greasy, doesn’t break me out, and is very nice as a moisturiser too. However, I’ve been hearing mixed things about how good its protection actually is - no, I’m not playing sports on a sunny beach all day, but I do still want a well-protecting SPF. I’ve tried LRP Antihelios dermo-paediatrics but found it broke me out bad, and I’m going to be trying the standard Antihelios but have heard it also contains denatured alcohol which can sting - I know the Garnier fluid sunscreen has this too and it stings bad! I’d use something Aussie like Bondi Sands if I could but sunscreens have a tendency to break me out easily unfortunately (which is a shame, because other products don’t do that to me so much). Any advice would be appreciated.

How common/uncommon of a uni experience is this?

Behind on all academics, no motivation, poor sleep/diet, bedrotting, weeks flying by. Some friends, but nobody close, nobody to go out and do things with. Depressed, doomscrolling, etc etc etc. Feels like I go on socials and see people posting nights out or fun hangouts every single day and I just feel doomed to be an outcast.

Good headphones for taking calls in moderately noisy environments (max budget approx £80)

I am a tutor and a university student (in the UK). The hallways and social areas are generally crowded - there are spots with less noise, but nowhere noise-free. I’d really like headphones that would be suitable to take a tutoring call in such spaces (there will be moments of silence in the calls e.g. when the student is doing a question - socially acceptable noise levels are okay here, not silent, but muffled enough to not be an issue). I’d also like them to not accentuate saliva/breathing sounds too much. I’m just looking to take calls, I won’t use them to listen to music, so things like bass aren’t relevant to me. Noise suppression would also be a welcome feature. Wired would be much preferred over wireless (not a fan of charging) and ideally nothing rather bulky. Thanks 🙏

The senior tutor told me I would likely be eligible for this when I first informed him of my circumstances at the start of this year (Y1 Aero btw).

I was doing decently through the year but gradually got more affected by my situation over the spring term and my mental health got extremely poor by the start of the Easter holidays. I took my exams last/this week and I’m pretty sure I didn’t pass a single one. I was unable to properly study for a single one, to be honest. I really don’t want to have to retake the year, but I wonder if I’d even be allowed to resit 5 exams. I couldn’t find any rule ‘against’ it (in the context of mitigating circumstances) but I’m just stressed. I was still under a lot of stress before, and the January exams went fine. Perhaps that could help vouch for me, because it’s evidence that my current situation is even more stressful and thus warrants another shot? I mean to say that, it’s evidence my circumstances were more conducive to failing than actually being that bad at each of those 5 modules. I really don’t think I’d fail resits and I really dread having to retake the entire year.

I have a supporting letter from MHA, and I’m also getting one from my GP at the health centre next week - she understands my circumstances well and started me on a new SSRI a few weeks ago, so I think she will write a good letter.
