23, fired now TWICE from two different corporate jobs, wondering if i’m the problem

i was fired yesterday from the finance/analytics job i had for over a year and a half and was told the “we are going in a different direction..” talk. i was terminated for what i suspect to be a mix of my performance but also poor management.

my previous analytics corporate job before that one, i was also terminated. i had that job for about 6 months. i was terminated because of poor management and i was never assigned any tasks despite asking

my resume technically is stacked up. degree in compsci, multiple internships, and yet i can’t figure out how to hold a corporate job. i’m not sure if it’s me at this point since this is the second time ive been fired from corporate “big boy” jobs. i’ve always felt out of place at both jobs, especially my most recent one. i just felt like i never belonged.

i’ve always had an interest in healthcare, specifically nursing, ever since i was a kid. life, COVID-19 and other circumstances happened and i wound up never getting my BSN and i switched to compsci instead. i’m wondering if i should try and go back to nursing school at this point in my life. it’s something ive always had an interest in, and clearly something in corporate isn’t working

i love corporate work because of the M-F and stable schedule and hours i had. i have a lot of friends and family that i love spending time with and i love to spend my weekends dedicated to those people and myself. i also eventually want to have a family, and having a more stable schedule would work easier. this is the main reason why i didn’t want to leave corporate. i’ve also read too many horror stories on reddit about nursing as a career.

should i keep applying to more corporate jobs, or apply and start my prerequisites? i’m just so stuck on what to do.

thank you, cleveland guy for the random act of kindness today at the mets game! - from a mets fan

(reposting also from the NYM subreddit)

i was at the padres game today at citi field sitting in the 517 section with some of my friends. i really wanted the bucket hat promotion they were giving out today, but just missed it as i saw them run out of hats. maybe around the 5th inning i was talking to my friends about how they just ran out of hats and how much i wanted one. the cleveland fan behind me very graciously gave me his hat saying i could have it! this was such a small random act of kindness i appreciated so much.

i was just laid off from my corporate job this afternoon with no warning. i was devastated. i still dragged myself to this game today because i already had the tickets for a while anyways. human kindness truly isn’t dead!

if cleveland guy sees this post and lives in NYC, i’d love to repay the kindness and buy a coffee or drink for you. i know it was such a small act, but it really made me feel so much better! thank you so so much again, and congrats on the win tonight guardians! i’ve gained so much respect for your fandom!
