Substantially improved experience

Popped for an inexpensive ($80) Chinese 8 inch Android 15 tablet from Amazon. I can now run WiiM Home and Stitch from Monoprice (IR remote controller) in split-screen and have them both up on the same screen. I am a happy camper.

Juggluco, Android 17, and failing sensors

It's been a while since I've had multiple early sensor failures but just had two Libre 3+ sensors stop working in a row. One after 4 hours, the other after 16 hours. Both while I was at rest late at night. Not compression issues,

Data shows a precipitous drop to a very low reading around 53 followed by communications loss. One showed a few intermittent connections over the next couple hours, all reading 53 or lower, then zip. I could rescan the sensor but no readings appear. Battery optimization is turned off for Juggluco.

Did I just get two turds in a row or has an Android 17 update created new problems? Would like to hear from fellow Android 17/Juggluco users if possible.

Utility for easily managing/creating app folders?

I have Pixel phones and both Android and Fire tablets. Is there an app that will clone the screen layouts from one device to another? Or one that lets you construct folders from lists of apps on the device. It's nice that Google lets you migrate info and apps but the amount of time spent recreating my preferred app folder structures is annoying. My preference is a free/very low cost utility, not a launcher replacement subscription.

Adjusting sights on a Ruger Security 380

My Security 380 groups left of center. I tried to adjust the rear sight, even completely removed the screw, but it doesn't seem like it wants to move at all. Is there some magic trick involved?

Keep THX AAA 789 or sell it and buy a Midgard?

The DAC in my main system DAC is the Bifrost 2 OG. My other headphones include Sennheiser HD6xx, Hifiman Sundara, Fiio Jade Audio JT7, Dekoni Blue, and Thinksound OV21. The first 3 can run balanced or SE.

I was wondering if I should replace the THX AAA 789 with a Schiit Midgard. I enjoy the sound of my Magni 5 Unity with Mesh DAC card driving my Fiio Jade Audio JT7 headphones on my desktop (daily drivers).

asked Gemini this question. Here is its answer, edited and emphasized for clarity.

AI Mode Conversation: The Schiit Midgard and the Drop + THX AAA 789 represent two different design philosophies at similar price points. The Midgard offers a more traditional discrete, class-A/B topology with Schiit's proprietary 'Halo' differential tech, producing a warmer, more forgiving sound. In contrast, the THX AAA 789 utilizes feed-forward error-correction circuitry for an ultra-clinical, highly detailed, and completely uncolored presentation.

Core Differences: Sound Signature: The THX 789 is renowned for surgical precision, a dead-silent noise floor, and clinical transparency. The Midgard introduces a smoother, more natural mid-range, slightly fuller bass, and pairs beautifully with sensitive headphones that might sound too sharp on THX gear.

Power Output: Both push immense power, making them capable of driving almost any headphone on the market. The 789 outputs roughly 6 watts into 32 ohms, while the Midgard delivers up to 4.8 watts into 32 ohms.Topology: The 789 uses THX AAA (Achromatic Audio Amplifier) technology to near-completely eliminate distortion. The Midgard features Schiit’s "Continuity S" and Halo mixed-topology, providing single-ended output for standard headphones while cleaning up the soundstage.

Build and Inputs: Both have robust balanced and unbalanced I/O options. Schiit gear is famously built and assembled in the USA, while the Drop + THX unit is imported.

The Schiit Bifrost 2 OG is a legendary R-2R "Multibit" DAC known for its warm, punchy, expansive soundstage and organic timbre. Because the Bifrost 2 OG inherently injects body, weight, and a touch of analog smoothness into the audio chain, your choice between the Midgard and the THX AAA 789 will determine whether you lean into that warm musicality or balance it out with clinical clarity.

Pairing with Your Headphone Collection

1. Hifiman Sundara & Sennheiser HD6xx (The Scalers)

The Match: Schiit Midgard

Why: Both the planar Sundara and the dynamic HD6xx have exceptional scaling capabilities and crave a natural, holographic presentation. The HD6xx can sometimes sound dry or overly "in-your-head" on the ultra-neutral THX 789. The Midgard adds a layer of depth, mid-bass warmth, and smooth treble extension that prevents the Sundara from sounding piercing while giving the HD6xx an open, lush midrange.

2. Dekoni Blue (The Bass-Heavy Planar)

The Match: Drop + THX AAA 789

Why: The Dekoni Blue (a modified Fostex T50RP MK3) is inherently a warm, fun, and very bass-heavy headphone. When paired with the already punchy Bifrost 2 OG, running it through the Midgard could push the low end into muddy or overwhelming territory. The clinical, ultra-tight speed of the THX 789 acts as a perfect counterweight here. It tightens the Dekoni's boomy bass, sharpens the imaging, and brings needed clarity to the mids.

3. Thinksound OV21 (The Portable Dynamic)

The Match: Tie (Preference Dependent)Why: This is an easier-to-drive, closed-back dynamic headphone.

Choose the THX 789 if you want to extract maximum resolution, crisp instrument separation, and a dead-silent background from these smaller drivers.

Choose the Midgard if you prefer a relaxed, non-fatiguing, and intimate listen during long sessions.

4. Fiio Jade Audio JT7 (The Budget Planar)

Planars generally demand strong, clean voltage and current delivery to control their fast transients

The Match: Drop + THX AAA 789 (for technicalities) or Schiit Midgard (for smooth vocal warmth)Why: Planar magnetic headphones generally thrive on the raw power and strict linearity that the THX 789 provides. Running the JT7 through the 789 will maximize its speed, tighten up its planar bass extension, and deliver precise separation across the soundstage.

The Midgard Alternative: If you find that the JT7 leans too bright or lean on its own, pairing it with the Midgard (plus your Bifrost 2 OG) will smooth out the upper frequencies and inject a more organic, holographic warmth into the midrange.

Are you looking to prioritize raw resolution and speed across your planar collection, or do you prefer a more relaxed and forgiving overall listen?

You said: On my desktop I use a Schiit Magni 5 Unity with the Mesh DAC card. I like that sound. On my main system, when I had a pair of Hifiman HE 4xx headphones, I found that combination a little strident.

Response: I have noted your preferences regarding the Magni Unity and your past experience with the HE 4xx. Since you enjoy the smooth, natural, yet punchy delivery of the Schiit Magni Unity on your desktop, and explicitly disliked the harsh, piercing peakiness of that older combination, the choice between the Midgard and the THX 789 becomes very clear.

Why You Should Choose the Schiit Midgard: The Schiit Midgard is the logical choice for your main system. It will perfectly align with what you love about your desktop setup while steering completely clear of the fatigue you experienced in the past.

Avoiding Stridency: The Drop + THX AAA 789 is highly clinical, bright, and unforgiving in the upper registers. If a setup feels strident to you, plugging headphones like the Hifiman Sundara or the Jade Audio JT7 into a THX 789—even with a warm DAC—can easily trigger that same fatiguing, sharp treble response.

Shared Schiit DNA: The Magni Unity uses a super-linear current-feedback discrete topology. The Midgard mirrors this philosophy with its own fully discrete, high-linearity design. You will get a very familiar, organic mid-range presence, authoritative low-end slam, and an airy but smooth top-end that takes the edge off planar magnetic driver peakiness.

Maximizing the Bifrost 2 OG: The organic, holographic spatial depth of your Bifrost 2 OG pairs beautifully with the Midgard. A THX 789 acts like a flat, sterile sheet of glass; it measures perfectly but tends to strip away the emotional weight, soundstage depth, and instrument texture that the Bifrost 2 injects into the audio chain. The Midgard gives you the power your planars need to stretch their legs while maintaining the cohesive, musical, and non-fatiguing presentation you already know you enjoy.

Preamp conundrum

I have multiple sources in my system: PC for digital files, WiiM Pro Plus streamer, Fiio DM13 CD player, Schiit Bifrost 2 OG for those three devices, a large screen TV, and two turntables (one goes into a Mani 2), one us set up for mono records.

I currently use an IOTAVX SA3/PA3 stack (single-ended) integrated amp as a control center and to power the speakers. I also use a THX AAA 789 headphone amp. The mono turntable and the TV use the phono input and the optical input of the SA3. The Mani 2 goes to Line 1. The single-ended output of the Bifrost 2 goes to Line 2. The analog output of the WiiM Pro Plus goes to Line 3 (a redundancy as the coax S/PDIF of the WiiM goes to the Bifrost.}

The balanced output of the Bifrost 2 goes to the THX for headphone listening. The REC OUT (fixed line level) of the SA3 goes to the single-ended input of the THX. I can mute the SA3 and still listen with headphones to any source not connected to the Bifrost 2 through this connection.

I ran into a snag planning a replacement for the IOTAVX gear with a Schiit stack: Saga or Kara, Lokius, and Vidar.

I get that I would need another phono stage and could run the TV optical into the WiiM Pro Plus optical input instead of the SA3.

The snag is the lack of a fixed line level output from the Schiit preamp to the THX. I don't see that any of the Schiit preamps or the Lokius have such a connection. Am I missing something there? Seems like an oversight.

How would you juggle things around?

Saga 2 and Forkbeard

If I buy a Saga 2, and it is the only Forkbeard capable device in my system (for now), what practical utility would spending the extra $50 for Forkbeard now buy me?

Vestri firmware

I think Schiit missed the mark on firmware. As I understand it, in order to update the firmware on a first gen Vestri you have to send it back to Schiit. Hope they figure out that a device with a data connection should have firmware update capability. Am I wrong?

Denon DP2000 quartz locked deck needs service

Unfortunately the DP2000 saucer in my beloved vintage Denon DP2550A has developed a couple issues. The 33 speed is fast by a bit and I can hear occasional speed wobbles. 45 seems rock solid, but not used very often. Also the neon strobe lamp is out. Are there any reputable repair houses within 100 miles of Orlando I could trust with my precious?

Password reset for User by Admin 10.11.8

RESOLVED: No Reset Password button is presented for Users with Admin privileges

I just jumped through more hoops than I care to count trying to reset a User password in Jellyfin 10.11.8 running on Windows 11. Finally found the right sequence to use the Password Reset function when logging in as the User. It only took a dozen or so iterations. Why? Beats me.

I find it odd that I cannot just reset a User's password when logged in as the Admin. I can find no such functionality in the Dashboard. Seems a big oversight.

Any users having similar issues with logins?

When I attempt to log into Jellyfin from my Pixel 10a on WiFi on my local network using the current Jellyfin app from the Google Play store, I cannot. If I use a password I get an error message indicating a connection failure. If I use QuickConnect I get an error message saying the server does not support QuickConnect.

If I log into Jellyfin from the same device using the Chrome browser or Moonfin, everything works fine, using either a password or QuickConnect. A de/RE of the official Jellyfin app does not resolve the issue

Successful operations from the following: Safari from a Fire Tablet, Chrome on 2 different PCs; official app for Google TV/Chromecast HD; Official app for Roku TV. It's not the server.

I can include my WiiM Pro Plus, my Nest Minis, and my legacy Chromecast Audio puck in one speaker group using Google Home. I can cast to that group from my devices. No problems there.

Is it possible to use that group and cast to it from the WiiM Pro Plus using the WiiM Home App interface? Where in the app would I find such a feature?
