Star power off screen/FOV
I just started diving into Clone Hero (it's awesome!!!), and I've got it setup on a custom arcade cabinet I made.
It's working fine, except one issue: the "Star Power" view is slightly off screen (see the pic)
Is there a setting of some sort to change this or get it to actually show fully??
It seems like the background video is also "cut off" at that point as well.
Everything else displays fine, so it's just during game play; it's a (almost) 4:3 monitor at a resolution of 2880x2560 (works great for retro and arcade games).
Also, I've seen some videos of having the guitar highway being extended more (the FOV maybe?) is there a way to change that too?
ETA: this is a Win10 machine running CH in "portable" mode (just have the game in a folder with all the data, didn't run an installer)
AXIS P1245 Mk II POE cable issues?
I just picked up an AXIS P1245 Mk II camera; setting it up, I used a POE injector with a 1 foot CAT 5e cable for the POE side and a longer CAT 5e for the data .. it runs fine on this setup and everything is smooth.
However, when going to get it in its final spot, I have a CAT 6 cable run for it that it simply just does not "like"; it will flash red/orange then go green for like half a second, and repeat this cycle. Looking at the "support" page for this camera, that would indicate that the module itself can't get a good network connection. It has power, obviously since it's able to flash the red/orange, but it just does not get a good network connection with anything I've tried..
I tested the same cable run connected to the POE switch (it's a POE++ with 60W per port) with a ReoLink RLC-823S1 (which draws nearly 4-16x the power) and that camera connected fine and had no issues on that same run. And I don't think the cable is too long, it's well under 100' (probably around 80' or so).
I even tested the AXIS with it being the only device plugged into that switch with no luck. I tried a different POE switch I had (a reolink POE+ switch) in regular and extended mode, and same issue. I even tried plugging the same POE injector on the other side of the run with that CAT 6 cable plugged into the POE side and the same CAT 5e in the data side, and same issue.
I even tried various other CAT6 and CAT 5e cables in all of the various combinations, and it just did not like any of that.
Is anyone familiar with the AXIS P1245 Mk II and why it seems to only work with the 1 foot CAT 5e/6 run on the POE side of an injector and seemingly nothing else?
What you say ???? No can has PNG, 14.4k modem die
Going online safe right now?
I'm looking to grab one of the new (obviously non-Zen) tables that just came up for my 4KP, but haven't gone online since right before the whole Zen debacle.
I was curious if anyone's had trouble since then? I've got quite a few tables on my 4KP (Zen included) and don't want to login and then potentially lose any of my tables just so I can buy 1 single new table. I was planning on going online, buying that table, then taking the tables all offline again.
Specifically I'm looking to get the new Dino Dynasty 3 .. which, side question, says isn't compatible with my 4KP, but I'm assuming that just means it's not in 4k and not that it's not compatible with the actual hardware ... ???
Would an i7-8700 or i7-9700 be ok with some later MAME titles?
During an upgrade to the newest MAME (0.287), I realized that my MAME machine's CPU doesn't support x86-64_v2 😭 .. so I'm looking at upgrading my machine without breaking the bank (my MAME machine only plays MAME and nothing else, so I don't need an ultra-gaming rig).
I was able to find a decently priced Dell that I can throw my current GFX card in, but was curious how well the CPU would really handle some of the games?
It's got 16GB of DDR4 RAM, with an Intel i7-8700 and I'm throwing in my Geforce GT 610 2GB PCIe x16.
I could also get that machine but with the i7-9700 ...
Would that be enough to run some of the later titles (like Gauntlet Dark Legacy, NFL Blitz, MK4, Tekken 3/4, etc.)?
I'd be willing to spend a little more on the machine, or even a better GFX card, but was curious if the 8th or 9th gen i7's would be acceptable, or if I really should just see if I can get something with a 10th+ gen?
Upgrading worth it?
Hey all! I've got a custom arcade build I made that's running MAME 0.144 and I've been happy with the games that I play on it (mostly 80's - 90's games). There are a few that I'd like to see have some better frame rates on it (like Gauntlet Dark Legacy), so I've been looking to upgrade and was curious if it's "worth it" (I know that can be a loaded term).
I'm looking at going to 0.151 or to the latest 0.287 .. I know it means getting the updated ROM sets for them, but I was more curious if there's been that much actual improvement between 0.144 to 0.151 or 0.287?
I know after 0.165 (or so) that other systems (like consoles) were integrated into it, but I'm really only concerned about the arcade games, so the console support isn't on my wish-list.
Looking through the changelogs for all of them is quite tedious and "AI" isn't much help beyond essentially saying "things have changed" (obviously, haha!).
My 0.144 setup is pretty stable, so I guess I'm curious if there's any answers to some of the following:
- Has there been a significant improvement to performance from 0.144 (e.g. general emulation speeds have necessarily increased)?
- Has there been a significant improvement to compatibility/performance for the ROMs themselves (e.g. MK4, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, etc. etc. run better than 10FPS)?
- Has there been any GPU offloading where it makes sense (e.g. certain games are actually rendered direct to GPU and not CPU bound anymore)?
- Is there a list somewhere that can culminate what games are more generally working vs. looking at the changelists?
- Is there a more specific MAME version that I should look at (e.g. go with 0.285 because of X, Y, Z)?
- Is the upgrade process "smooth" and can I go from 0.144 to X without too much fuss, or do I need/should I incrementally update?
Sorry if some of these might be answered elsewhere, but it's been well over 10 years since I've touched my MAME files and I thought it was about time to do some updates.
Thanks!
