Moving to Eugene from London

Hi everyone
Been perusing the subreddit for a few weeks and got a bit of second hand lurking information
But wanted to A; introduce myself and B; ask about various living

I’m going to be starting a post doc at UO on October.
So had a few questions mostly about places to live

  1. Ideally I’d want a 1 or 2 bed in a new-ish apartment complex. Anything that exists that is close to campus? I’ll either get a bike or an electric skateboard (if the roads are suited for that). Realistically don’t want to be more than 10-15mins travel. Budget would be roughly 1500 a month but can stretch to 1800 if something great came along
any rental agents to avoid or approach?

  2. Area wise, I’ve been told to stay away from downtown which is fair enough; what’s the thoughts on west side of Springfield or Amazon?

2.5. If you think I need a car then I’ll probably lease one for a few years and I guess that opens up areas I can live right? I’m not opposed to having a car
And any thoughts of where to get a relatively inexpensive lease?

  1. Gym wise I was thinking of just joining the UO fitness centre as location and price is great, anyone ever used it?

  2. If anyone is around for a few pints in October, let me know!

Thanks so much
And sorry as I’m sure this has been asked a million times but really appreciate the help, I’ve gone through the subreddit but still trying to make sense of it all

Evening plans for the con?

So day one almost done, well done guys. Was a busy one! Feel the floor was not as packed last year but maybe I’m remembering it wrong

What is everyone up to tonight? And the other nights as well?
I stopped by coin-op last night, cool vibes

Best hotel to stay in for 2 nights?

Hi everyone. There's been a thousand of these posts, but just wanted to double check I'm in the right vicinity for my options for my stay in WeHo end of July this year. Just travelling on my own, 30s guy.

Choices are between

Andaz

Chamberlain

Montrose

Le Parc

Ziggy

Petit Ermitage

They're all roughly the same price. I'm looking for fun vibes and close to decent nightlife, coffee spots and bars. And safe of course.

On a side note, wouldn't mind getting a day pass at a nearby gym if anyone has any suggestions; unless you think the fitness centers at these places are good enough.
