Stopping things sliding in the boot

I have a golf trolley that stays in my boot pretty much all the time. But in my i5 Touring, the thing slides around like crazy when driving. It's not the wheels moving, the wheels are locked, it's literally just sliding.

I am trying to figure out if I'm better off buying the rubber boot mat, or the cargo net. Does anyone have either?

I'd prefer the rubber mat if possible, since it'll help keep it clean and is less hassle when getting items in/out, but I'm not sure how grippy the rubber is? Also how easy is it to access the under-boot storage when the mat is in?

And I'm unsure if the cargo net is good enough for something with a bit of weight? Does the cargo net just keep items in the centre of the boot?

Would love to hear from anyone who has either. Thanks!

Re-fixing mortgage early, good idea and if so, how long to fix for?

Current situation: We are in the last year of a 5 year fix at 2.15% (expires around May 2027).

I am fairly sure that come May 2027, rates are going to be worse than today, so I am thinking of breaking early and re-fixing now to avoid having to fix onto a much worse rate.

There are 2 options:

  1. Fix for 3 years at 3% (about 140 a month more than we pay today)

  2. Fix for 5 years at 3.2% (about 190 a month more than we pay today)

I am strongly leaning toward option 2, so break early and fix for 5 more years and forget about it until then, but I'd love to hear what this group thinks.

My thinking is we are never going to get a rate anything like what we have today any time soon, and it's hard not to see rates rising between now and when we will be forced to make a decision, so better to bite the bullet to get a decent rate for 5 years even if it means paying more than we otherwise would for the next 10 months or so?

Q6 etron and golf clubs

Can the Q6 etron boot/trunk fit a cart bag of golf clubs in diagonally without having to take the longer clubs out of the bag?

Surprisingly the wider internet hasn’t been able to answer this question for me, so hopefully any golfers on r/etron can!

I have to travel with clubs quite a lot, I’m torn between the A6 and Q6 and not being able to just throw the bag in and boot without taking clubs out would be a dealbreaker for the Q6.

Thanks! 🙏

Importing from NI and avoiding customs and VAT

I'm pretty confused about this topic so hoping someone here can help me who has maybe done this recently. I've imported a few cars from NI but haven't done it since Brexit kicked in.

Buying a car from a dealer in NI. The car is an NI car with an NI reg (not a GB reg).

The current owner of the car is the dealer in NI, it was used as a company car. So the owner on the V5C is going to be the dealer rather than a private individual.

What exactly is the customs / VAT story here?

Does the fact it's an NI reg mean the customs is a non-issue?
