Got this MacBook Air M1 around 6 years ago, and it still works flawlessly to this day.

I recently upgraded from my iPhone 12 mini to an iPhone 17, but I was curious about an issue I experienced with my old 12 mini.

The display had several tiny black dots appearing near the edge. The phone had previously been opened by an unauthorized third-party technician, and the display was affected afterward.

At first the spots were very small, and I wasn’t sure whether they were actually spreading or just becoming more noticeable over time.

For anyone who has experienced something similar with an iPhone display: what usually causes these small black spots, and can they eventually spread across the screen?

I’m mainly curious about what was happening to the display and whether there was anything that could have prevented it from getting worse.
