Bird of Paradise and Winter ?

Last winter I brought it inside during the freeze but it brought in a ton of unwelcome guests with it.

Now, this past month i’ve been fighting off an ant colony that made its home in the pot and I really don’t want to bring it inside again if I don’t have to.

Can they survive outside if they are potted?

not very familiar with this type of plant 🪴

Texas weed or miracle?

Last fall i bought a Mexican Petunia plant after moving. It was outdoors and died before it even froze down here in Central Texas.

Fast forward, I noticed this growing in the container that i left the dead petunias in.

For context I live in a HIGHLY aggressive weed backyard because of the squirrels and birds that make themselves at home in my large trees.

This sprouted not long ago maybe a month or longer since I noticed it… My question is

  1. Is there any chance this is the same plant growing again since it’s a perennial ?

  2. If it isn’t could someone tell me what they think it is before I waist my time watering it

Chimera Canna Lily or something else ?

I am not very experienced in plants/ gardening or Canna Lilies. This is the first one I have had it was labeled as President Canna Lily, and so far has produced bright red flowers as expected. I planted the two bulbs in March and i’m proud of how it’s grown!

I am concerned however that there might be something wrong because I can’t find any answers online regarding what I have showing in the first two photos. The white bulb and the white steak on the leaf are the only “sign” or suspicion that has me asking for clarification.

I included a ton of other photos of the plant and other current/ past blooms it’s created. None of which started out white or even close to white. Additionally, only one leaf has the white mark and it’s located on a completely different stock.

TLDR: Is my Canna showing signs of Chimerism, sun damage, or some sort of virus?

Thank you!

You win some, you weed some.

Backstory: I am new to outdoor gardening here in Austin and thought it would be a fun idea to plant native wildflowers along the fence line with some of the natural mulch I had.

Anyways!
Here I was watering, admiring, and tending this area for the last 4-5 months thinking about how lush it’s gotten.

Finally decided to do some research to identify the sprouts and turns out i’ve been watering weeds… Yep. 99% of it is NOT from my mix but volunteers 😭

So anyways, enjoy my very large wild poinsettia garden 🪏 🍂

Golden Pothos Edition.

Hey y’all!

First timer here, not super familiar with pothos* (or plants in general) but have been trying to learn and do my best!

I noticed most of the pothos related posts I see on here are less dense, have larger leafs, and are generally longer “vine” wise….which has prompted me to post this!

Am I doing something to hinder the length growth? It’s very lush with individual stems and leaves coming out of the pot as you can see.

Should I be cutting the shorter ones to promote more length?

**Since i’m new to plant care to hear feedback, tips, or just general observations from my more seasoned plant peers.**

INFO:

Pictures were taken directly after watering.

I have had it in my care for 7 months (only one vine has gotten significantly longer as you can see).

Edit: *spelling*
