STATIC GATE THEORY {video essay preview}

Preview of the video essay adaptation of "The Static Gate Theory," which seeks to reveal the true role of the static within Amanda the Adventurer. It answers everything from the Curtain's origins/mission to the reason why we as the player are able to interact with the tapes via the game's puzzles!

ATA 2 Stream Fanart Showcase!

Salutations! I thought it would be fun to create a compilation vid of all the VA’s in-character improv from the ATA 2 stream, and I wanted to include fanart based on the stream as well! If any part of the stream inspired you to draw fanart, and you’d like it to be included in this compilation, please let me know!

Thinking of making a video or something that goes through the remaining "plot holes" of ATA and does its best to answer them. If you have any ideas for some, please comment them below!

Starstruck! ~ a multimedia fan project

I'm at the point where the multimedia ATA project I've been working on since last November is finally in full swing (ish)!

Still a work in progress, Starstruck! consists of a prequel/sequel duology, songs, illustrations, a site for behind-the-scenes archival, theory essays, and a timeline for the events of the games!

Btw, to anyone who made fanart based on the most recent MANGLEDmaw stream, there's a dedicated section on the site Curtain Call for stream-inspired fanart!! Let me know if you'd like to be featured there!

Searching for past attendants/possible footage of past MANGLEDmaw event

Salutations! I'm putting together a mini archive for things MANGLEDmaw related, such as behind the scenes videos, interviews, and the like. I recently discovered an event that took place in 2023 with James and Reece and was wondering if anyone here attended it? You can find some information about it here!

Speculations on Modernist Design Forum

In the Backrooms film, we see Clark wearing a shirt that says “Modernist Design Forum, Santa Cruz 1970,” which alludes to his profession as an architect. I’ve been looking into this more to see what such a forum would have been like at the time. Do you think it would be a conference featuring people of numerous architectural disciplines, a place where architects like Clark could showcase their work, a series of panels discussing the future of design? Feel free to let me know your thoughts, and if there are any similar events you could point to as being analogous to this one.

Gentrification and its catalysts

Salutations! I’m in the early stages of developing a video essay that’s analyzing the transformation of a fictional town through the lens of gentrification, and discussing how this perspective lends itself to greater themes in the story the town is from. However, even though I feel like I can make a case for the phenomenon I’ve observed in this story being gentrification, I’m struggling to find sources that describe it with the same catalyst.

Most of the definitions of gentrification I’m finding describe it as high-income residents slowly moving into and displacing low-income neighborhoods—in the process, certain kinds of businesses may follow suit and change the overall culture of a community. In the story I’m analyzing, the catalyst is a corporation which reshapes the town in its image while devastating its population. I’m almost certain this is a form of gentrification, but I’m looking for real life examples of this kind of thing happening that explicitly call it that.
