I vibe coded my first app, a photo backup app for travel photography.
I was struggling to find a good system for backing up my SD Cards when travelling. I like to travel light so I either only bring my iPhone or iPad, and making sure I’ve got a backup when I’m on the road has always been a pain.
This app works like the discontinued Gnarbox or similar dedicated boxes, but as an iOS app.
I have an Essager USB C dock which has an SD Card reader and an m.2 SSD slot, with a 1TB SSD installed.
The app lets you choose the SD Card as a source, and the SSD as a destination. And it copies everything to the SSD in a Year/Month/Day folder structure by reading the EXIF data for the images.
This way it’s ready to import the SSD contents into my Lightroom catalogue, or my home server, or anywhere in a nice organised structure.
If anyone is interested in testing it out it’s available on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/Rpxnp2nP
