Honest, slightly ironic question: is this still dawless?

I made the whole track on a Roland MC-707, ran the effects through an SP-404, and played the guitar on an actual guitar, because I’m very traditional like that.

The mix was done inside the MC-707, with just a tiny bit of mastering on the computer.
Not sure if the dawless border control will let this one through.

Teodr — “It’s Spring in Saint Petersburg”.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w3hXAOD4LA
A new / IDM / downtempo techno track with that very Saint-Petersburg understanding of spring. If it’s cold, wet, and not exactly what spring is supposed to look like — then it probably is spring.
BTW, it was built entirely in Cubase, using old Steinberg plugins: Neon, Karlette, and other vintage VSTs. And honestly, I still think these 30-year-old plugins sound pretty convincing. What do you think?

Teodr - В Санкт-Петербурге весна

https://youtu.be/5w3hXAOD4LA?si=h9O22x1IgGXOfMtY

I’ve just finished a new track called “It’s Spring in Saint Petersburg”, and this time I built it entirely in Cubase using some pretty old Steinberg plugins — Neon, Karlette, VB-1 and a few other old VSTs.

The track leans into IDM / downtempo techno, and I was honestly curious how these older plugins would hold up in a full piece today.

Turns out, I still think they sound surprisingly convincing.

What do you think? Does anyone here still use Neon, Karlette, VB-1 or other old Steinberg plugins in current projects?

If you’d like to support the release, pre-save is now open:
