How to deal with overlapping frequencies? (kick and synth)

First off, please don't kill me i'm still sub 100 hours in FL studio. Trying to learn my ways around the basics of music theory and production.

I created darn nice hard techno kick, its full sounding and has a ton of power. However, its frequencies look like this:

https://preview.redd.it/l291qcrmrgbh1.png?width=653&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1fcf25950284f5098e780f39b95615d3b9f709e

Its... pretty much everywhere. But it sounds so good, i don't want to kill any frequencies, all i want to do now is add a synth screech to it. What ends up happening is that they of course fight for the...waves?....frequencies? and the kick is alot less intense when the synth is on.

How do techno producers deal with this? yes i could sidechain some stuff together but then the kick would duck and sound less oomphy or the synth would duck and synth is just an ongoing syren(yes, don't question my style in music) this would result in a weird pumping sound.... So whats the proper way to get both sounds to play at their "fullest" without making the kick sound less intense? Is there some magic polarity swapperoo one can do?

Feel free to point me towards some tutorials!

Copying Beatgrid from USB to Rekordbox not working

I adjust the beatgrid for my tracks directly on my xdj-az and would like to copy them back into rekordbox, so they don't get overwritten whenever i add a new song onto the USB and Sync the playlist.

Rekordbox seems to have two built in functions for this, neither of them working:

- Sync Manager: "Cue Grid Info" - runs for 0.5 seconds and then closes without the beatgrid adjusting

- Right Click on USB: "Update collection". I've even tried going into the USB's playlist, rightclicking a track directly and trying the "Update collection"

I don't get any error messages. Here's a video of me showing the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6i5ovE3PFM

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

I‘m currently in lombok and have the opportunity to pick up shortboards pretty cheaply.

This will be my first shortboard i purchase and i‘m very torn between two options: the dumpster diver 2 at 6‘4 and the pyzel phantom at 6‘6. They sit at 43.1L and 43.4L respectively.

My skill level is intermediate, i can paddle and pop up by myself, i can do some basic turns, but nothing like cutbacks yet.

My main challenge is still paddling, on bad days with a rental that doesnt work for me i might miss 8 out 10 waves, but on some days with a board that works for me i catch pretty much all the waves. I‘m a bigger dude (183cm and 95kg) so i need a board that offers me some stability when i pop up.

I am leaning more towards the dd2 because i travel around alot, bali, australia, portugal next. So i will surf tons of different wave types, so i‘d rather have a more forgiving board. Because of its fat hip and extra volume in the chest area this board will probably be easier for me to progress on. The only upside of the phantom i see is that it would serve me longer once my skilllevel progresses and i start surfing head high or overhead waves. Unfortunately tough, i prefer the way the phantom looks but that shouldn‘t be a deciding factor.

Could anyone verify my train of thoughts or tell me if i should rather go for the phantom?

I‘ve tried the lost puddle jumper at 6‘1 with 41L and it was fine. Tried a local brand malibu at 6‘6 with 40L and it was super easy to catch waves with. Also tried a 6‘8 more performance oriented local board with a very pointy nose and alot of rocker at 43L, that one overwhelmed me a little. It felt amazing once on the waves but catching them was a big challenge.

This post originates from alot of mixed opinions i‘ve heard. A portuguese shaper literally told me to stop overthinking it, both are in the right ballpark, just go for one and start paddling. ‚Its not about the board, just surf as much as you can, it doesn‘t matter‘.

Another advice i got from a very good surfer told me to go for the phantom because the dd2 is too short and thick and will stop me from progressing and learning ‚proper surfing‘, i should get something longer so i learn how to turn properly. So safe to say i‘m a bit torn now
