peter cat could genuinely help us achieve world peace

people have been saying “be positive”, “live in the moment”, “love everyone” for so long that the words barely mean anything anymore.

then shit i’m dreaming comes on and, for a few minutes nobody has to tell you anything.

you’re just there.

Facebook has billions of users, so where is everyone?

I keep seeing profiles with 2,000+ friends or thousands of followers, but their new posts get 0–3 likes. The weird part is, if you scroll back a few years, the same people used to get loads of engagement.

So what happened? Are most accounts just inactive now? Is Facebook barely showing friends’ posts anymore? Did everyone move to Instagram and WhatsApp but keep their Facebook account?

For a platform this huge, it feels weirdly empty sometimes.

Dead Internet Theory peeps, explain this one xD

How strong is Vancouver’s fintech / finance + AI scene for new grads?

I’m trying to get a realistic sense of Vancouver’s fintech scene, particularly companies and roles at the intersection of finance, software, data and AI.

I know Vancouver has a growing group of fintech companies and some larger financial institutions building out their tech/AI presence here, but I’m more curious about how that actually translates into opportunities for people starting their careers.

For anyone working in the space:

  • How strong is Vancouver for new-grad opportunities in fintech / financial technology / AI compared with Toronto?
  • What kinds of entry-level roles are actually most common here: software engineering, data/ML, product, quantitative/analyst roles, risk/fraud, etc.?
  • Is the ecosystem large enough to build a career in Vancouver long term, or does the market become limiting compared with Toronto or the US?
  • And for someone graduating now, what skills, projects or experience genuinely make a difference when trying to break into this space?

Would especially appreciate perspectives from people who have worked, hired, interned or started their careers in Vancouver recently.

There is no spiritual truth hidden in language

One thing I’ve been thinking about lately is how words are basically just noise. Language is the way we’ve learned to arrange that noise so it means something to us. Speech, music, philosophy, even this post it’s all just noise with spacing and structure.

And somehow we keep digging through it, thinking there must be some final truth hiding underneath. Enlightenment, God, consciousness, truth maybe they’re all just empty words we keep trying to fill with meaning.

The funny part is there’s no way out of arranging the noise either. We’re biologically bound to keep arranging this noise and giving it meaning. You reject one framework and immediately replace it with another. You escape one room and walk straight into the next. Even becoming “free” from all of this becomes another framework.

Maybe that’s the joke. I’m writing a post about how words are just noise, using words, hoping the noise communicates something.

Basically I’m just a dog barking and you guys somehow understand the bark.
