Nightcrawler as a support makes no sense.

Let’s be honest—this is my personal and seemingly unpopular opinion, but I believe it’s well-founded. Nightcrawler’s entire identity (in combat, obviously) has always been about being a great swordsman who uses teleportation to complement his fighting style. He is, in essence, the perfect DPS—literally a perfect diver. His entire design translates flawlessly into a DPS role; he fits so incredibly well that he must have been conceived that way since the comics. That’s why putting him as a Strategist (Support) makes absolutely no sense.

First of all, he has never healed anyone in any capacity. Many will argue that other Supports in the comics don't heal either, but using comic logic, it is much more believable to adapt characters like Invisible Woman or Jubilee to heal rather than a guy who teleports around fighting with swords. Sure, just like with Gambit or Rogue, you can always stretch the lore to justify certain abilities, but it feels incredibly forced for a character who already fits perfectly into an existing in-game role without any modifications.

Now, putting lore and consistency aside, even if we ignore it, making him a Support would be highly inefficient. Let’s be clear about one thing: by default, no Support is allowed to heal a ton and deal massive damage. Maybe Luna Snow, but she is Marvel Rivals' favorite because, well, she’s their own creation (I know she originates from another game, but part of that team, including Luna's creator, is now working on Rivals). Plus, she is hitscan. Kurt, on the other hand, will clearly be a mainly melee character, and balancing that as a Support is much harder to do cohesively.

So, we are left with two paths. Either he heals very little and deals more damage (like Ultron or Adam Warlock), or he heals a lot and deals less damage (like Invisible Woman or Gambit when he isn't using his burst).

If the first option is correct, many will argue that he could be a utility Support who helps the team in ways other than raw healing. Sure, he could, but he would be at a massive disadvantage. It doesn’t matter if you can clutch-save an ally's life in a specific moment if the enemy team is immortal and you can't sustain your own team's health pools. It's a fact: there is way too much healing in Marvel Rivals. Even if you have a damage advantage compared to other Supports, all Supports deal less overall damage than Duelists (DPS). Getting picks with him would be highly unfeasible because enemy healing would easily outpace his Support-level damage. On top of that, you'd be leaving your team with a healing deficit, both because his raw output is low and because he'd be too distracted attacking. If that's the goal, it is literally much more viable to just make him a Duelist: give him more damage, let him secure eliminations efficiently, and let him contribute to the team that way without creating a healing deficit.

Furthermore, being that specific type of utility Support means falling into a very deep rabbit hole—and I say this as an Ultron player. When developers design you as a "triple Support" character, they will never let you out of that hole. The moment you accumulate enough buffs to barely compete with "double Support" comps, they nerf you immediately because they think you're broken. It happens to Mantis and Ultron all the time. Trust me, you don't want to be in that spot.

Now, let's look at the second option: suppose he is a Support that heals a lot but deals low damage. Well, now we have a heal-bot that completely contradicts Kurt's actual powers. His kit would feel incredibly wasted, and his mobility would go completely to waste.

I know some people will bring up the typical, whiny argument whenever a DPS is announced: "Oh, there are too many DPS, boohoo." Yeah, well, duh. That's exactly how it should be. In every single hero shooter out there, there are and always will be more DPS characters than Supports and Tanks. The reason is simple: they are the most straightforward characters. I don't mean their individual mechanics are easy, but rather the objective of their role is the most basic one: deal damage and kill. Every character can do that, but DPS just do it better. That's it. Tanks and Supports are much more specialized characters with highly specific utility kits. Obviously, there will be fewer of them. Expecting an equal number of characters across all roles makes as little sense as wanting to play chess with the same number of Knights and Rooks as Pawns.

And even if we ignore that, it's not like those people are actually upset about having fewer Tanks or Supports, because the rate at which they are released isn't small at all. They just get triggered whenever a DPS drops. I've seen people complain about "too many DPS" right after coming off entire seasons of Tank + Support releases, just because the very next character happens to be a DPS instead of another Tank or Support.

But even if we buy into that argument, it's still stupid to bend and rework characters into roles that don't fit them at all when they align perfectly with others. Especially when there are characters in the comics literally waiting to join the roster who do fit those roles perfectly without any twisting. We could have Dazzler or Elixir for Supports, and Juggernaut or Colossus for Tanks. So, if you think filling the Tank and Support roster is the absolute highest priority, I honestly prefer to wait much longer and have consecutive seasons of only Tanks and Supports, if it means I get to enjoy a Nightcrawler who is a true Duelist, actually makes sense, and truly makes me feel like Kurt Wagner.

Hello, for a main player of Devil Dinosaur.

I was wondering, as someone who's become a Devil Dinosaur main, what you all think about synergies with Fox? He's my favorite support, even though I don't play him. How could I play him to make things easier for my Fox?
