Ticket's couldn't be scanned at venue; Seatgeek support doesn't think it's their problem

Here's a fun story:

  1. Bought concert tickets six months ago as a gift for my wife

  2. Couldn't transfer the seats to her because - evidently - SeatGeek was just reselling ticketmaster tickets?

  3. Couldn't find a phone number anywhere on their site or in their app to ask questions

  4. The day of the event, my wife presented the tickets using the "share" link I was told to send her, and the venue couldn't scan them!

  5. Opened a support ticket same day via the app and the stupid chat system, and after doing an hours worth of work, I find out today that I can f*** right off. The event took place, and I got the tickets, so the rest is my problem.

Unbelievable. The tickets couldn't be scanned because Seatgeek's technology is a clown show, and that's my fault.

Anyone else been robbed by Seatgeek? I think it's a scam company based on this experience.

No one has to buy a car at a dealership

This thread exists to criticize dealerships, and there's definitely a lot of great reasons to do that.

But I keep wondering why people even buy cars at a dealership in the first place. If you don't have to have something fancy, rare, or new, you can buy cars at public auctions, on Facebook marketplace, on websites like CarsandBids or BringATrailer, and at any number of big box store parking lots.

There's not a single day that goes by that I don't see a car for sale by owner somewhere, and I'm seeing them because they're cars I would consider buying. I bet there are plenty of cars for sale that I never notice because they don't interest me.

Which is to say, why are so many people so mad? Very few of us truly have to buy a car at a dealer. And often times when I see stories on here about dealers being obnoxious ass hats, it's because OP had to buy something special (like the guy that paid $100k for a Type R and posted a couple of days ago). No one needs a Type R, but if you're so emotionally invested in buying one, you kind of deserve what you get, right?

Put another way:

I don't go to the chiropractor. I don't go to the liposuction plastic surgeon. I don't go to the payday loans store. I don't buy airline tickets from Frontier. I don't buy premium brand prescriptions, and I always get a second medical opinion because doctors have screwed a LOT of people.

I make these choices because I know those are all places people get tricked or ripped off. Don't consumers who buy cars at dealerships have some responsibility?
