Swimming this weekend

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting Stockholm over the next few days and I wanted to check - will the water warm enough to swim now, without a wetsuit? Also, I guess most of the places don't have facilities/lockers, is it safe to leave your things while you go for a quick dip?

I'm hoping to try a few spots in the city (Smedsuddsbadet, Langholmen) and maybe Hellasgården.

Thanks to the lady who shared her umbrella with me!

I was standing at the Round Church bus stop in the blazing sun when suddenly there was this cool shade over my head. I realised this lady was sharing her massive umbrella with me and gave me the biggest smile. I was overcome and said a rather awkward thank you, I'm good (my first reaction being not knowing how to react to kindness) but I wanted to post here to properly acknowledge and appreciate it. A big thank you (if you see it), you really brightened my day! It was a small gesture that has had me smiling since.

Recommendations for 4-5 days in a European city - creative inspiration

I'm looking to spend a little less than a week in a European city (outside UK) or town which:

  • Has a good mix of cafes, bookshops, nice wandering/walking
  • Easy day trips or accessible nature that includes hikes or swimming
  • Ideally direct flight from London, <3 hours

My goal is to finish a writing project while also exploring a new place that hopefully provides some inspiration. Travelling in August and don't mind the heat but do mind heavy crowds (did Rome last year in August and it was too much for me)! Not too big on museums -- more interesting neighbourhoods, people watching, arts & crafts.

I've shortlisted Stockholm, Porto and Vienna... and can't seem to decide. Any recommendations would be welcome!

Best getaway for a writing a book/creative retreat

Hi! I'm looking for a place to get away in August for about a week to work on a book I'm writing/illustrating. I love nature - mountains and beaches. Considering:

-Wengen, Switzerland

-Andalsnes, Norway (I love train journeys so maybe take the Rauma line up there)

Looking for a mix of walks/hikes and nice cafes but mostly need to get some creative work done 😅

What do you recommend? I haven't considered the likes of Lisbon, Sicily, etc as I think August will be hot and crowded (?).

Thanks in advance!
