Looking to hire an illustrator/digital artist!

I'm an author, looking for an illustrator to design the book covers for my trilogy releasing later this year. I have designs I've made myself with Canva that I'd just like an artist to redo professionally. If you're interested, please let me know what your prices are! I'd ideally like them (all 3) finished by August. Also, if you're someone who can draw assets I can use for marketing and promo, that's a bonus I'll happily pay for! Same goes for concept sketch images to show the process, I know readers find that super interesting.

I'll DM you the design criteria and concept if you're interested. It's important to me that it's drawn/illustration work, not photo manipulation, AI, or stock photos. I have an artist from Argentina I found that I really like, but before moving forward there I just wanted to check the local talent. It's a romance series, but there'll be no characters on the cover.

Please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in!

[HIRING] Looking for an artist to who can recreate the below image with better typography

I'll be honest, I made the first image in Canva, and asked *A*I* to sharpen it out of curiosity. The second image is basically exactly what I want, but obviously I want to pay a real artist and not mass-produce non-human content. For typography, I'm just looking for someone who can make the font slightly more romantic, ans have it weave between the tree branches and leaves. I'd also need a minimal (but in the same vein) back cover design so it stays cohesive. This will be a trilogy, so I'll need three covers, but they all have similar color schemes and fruit imagery. I'm releasing my books later this year, but I'm asking now to get a feel for budget and to check availability as I know you guys get booked up in advance. Please let me know if you're able to do this and what your prices are! I'd ideally like them (all 3) finished by August. Must be willing to revist the project when page count is finalized to adjust spine width. Also, if you're someone who can draw assets I can use for marketing and promo, that's a bonus I'll happily pay for! Budget is $250 per cover (negotiable!) with extra for promo assets 🌸

Question for locals!

The second book in my fiction series is set in Cary, and I'm looking for some local advice of where a person could hypothetically host a state fair (open, flat grounds, parking nearby, not in the middle of nowhere). This would be in May, so not the annual state fair at the NC fairgrounds in October. It doesn't need to be huge, just a cozy setting for a ferris wheel and some carnival games. Thanks!

Has anyone gotten illustration work from GetCovers or MiblArt?

I understand they both primarily deal with stock photo manipulation for a standard fee, but both websites offer illustrative work from scratch as well and just alude to it being an upcharge. It's promised that you'll have the exact quote beforehand, which is fine, but I'm just wondering if anyone here has taken the illustration route with them. What was the upcharge, and how did it come out? I'd love to see pics!

Just getting a vibe check for my self-made cover!

I made this in Canva, but I want to get a professional designer to do it over (I want to be able to show them my vision without the awkward explaining). So this ISN'T the final product. I just wanted to get a feel from people whether they feel this kind of cover works with the blurb and is what you'd expect from a contemporary romance novel. This is the first book in a trilogy.

My reasoning for the design choices were:

  1. Dark purple for the romance element

  2. Orange font color to make it less serious as it's full of dark humor as well.

  3. CCTV element to hint at the stalking, but not leaning into creepy territory.

  4. The rose as an abstract element representing the female protagonist. (I specifically don't want people or faces on the cover).

Does the intended vibe come across? It's not dark romance; it's more a psychological exploration with funny undertones.

Blurb Critique: MISS FORTUNE (Contemporary romance)

Tagline: Fortune favors the broken.

Eden Sinclair is barely keeping it together, and she's tired of pretending otherwise. She's spent years outrunning her past, but the cracks are getting harder to ignore.

Nathan Ward is a surveillance agent whose only two priorities are catching the nation's most notorious, and making sure his mother's doesn't have to eat dinner alone.

When a premature click puts Eden in Nathan's path, it feels nothing short of fate. He couldn't save his sister, but maybe she's the redemption he's been searching for. He can help her in ways no one else can, as long as no one notices how invested he's becoming.

After a brush with death lands her in group therapy, things finally start looking up. Brunches with Paige feel lighter, and even the neighbor's cat, Fritter, seems to like her more. With a renewed appreciation for life and oddly good luck, Eden has time to think about her future--and her abysmal love life. But the new guy at this week's meeting could change that...

Who can I use for affordable international shipping?

I'm an author and looking for a courier service to send book merch boxes to international readers. Each box will weight less than 1kg, and the dimensions are 25x15x6cm fully boxed. The quote I got from DHL for a single package was R2400 which is obviously a non-starter when the parcel itself is R400 in value.
