Edible Plants being Wasted
Man, I was really bummed out yesterday, me and my boyfriend looked around at the plants at Walmart (across from GSR) and there is so much produce back there, just dying and being uncared for. A decent amount of those plants are also growing fruits/veggies. And to think about all of the people out there without food. For the smaller plants, it is about $5 per plant but most of them are dying. I wonder how many stores across all of Reno/Sparks sell plants that grow food, that never get bought. Why can't we take these plants and find somewhere to create a community garden? That produces edible fruits/veggies for those who may need something to eat. So many tomatoes and peppers and berries there. Squash, melons and things like thyme and cilantro. There has got to be a way for us to take these plants and do something with them before they end up in the dumpster.
