My partner and I are considering buying a waterfront single-family home in either Foster City or Redwood Shores. We plan to have two kids, so schools and long-term family suitability are important to us.

We also really like the idea of being able to kayak, paddleboard, or do other water activities directly from or near the house.

For people who have lived in either area, how would you compare:

* Flood and sea-level-rise risk
* Liquefaction/earthquake risk
* Waterfront home maintenance, including docks/seawalls
* Water activities and lagoon access

* Long-term resale/desirability

If you were choosing between the two for a home you planned to keep for 15–20+ years, which would you choose and why?

My fiancé and I are planning an intimate destination wedding in Europe in March 2027 with 15–25 close family members.

We’re looking for a château, villa, castle, or countryside estate where everyone can stay on-site for 2 nights (possibly 3), ideally with exclusive use of the property.

We want the wedding to feel like a relaxed family gathering where everyone can spend quality time together, unwind, and enjoy the destination—not just attend the ceremony. We’d love a location with activities such as sightseeing, nature, local culture, cooking classes, or spa experiences.

Our total budget is under $20,000 USD, including the 2-night stay, venue, accommodation, ceremony, and dinner.
