Google health and coach clanker are undercooked.

As someone getting back into running it doesn't obtain the most basic info like pace splits per km/mile.

Considering coach clanker has set me up to increase endurance with a 5km plan utilising my Garmin for runs and new Fitbit air for walks and general health it really falls short as pace is integral to look at and build on.

I prod and prod for more detailed data and all it does is relook at HR data over and over and give convoluted AI slop to try and sound impressive. Add this to it seemingly missing completed runs after linking and just general nonsense it sprouts it really smells of google releasing some beta AI coded crap and calling it ready.

Don't get me wrong I'm really liking the Fitbit air as a daily wear as it's allowed me to wear my mechanical watch collection again but Google health is very undercooked.

I really want to like "Coach," but...

It's very flawed. I'm testing it out as a return to running from injury so it has proposed a foundational 5km interval plan by ramping up intervals and checks in on me with past injuries and niggles, which is a sound strategy and I like the approach to keep me engaged and it has it tailored based on my availability and days I can do the workouts etc.

It ends there though. Paired with the app, it needs A LOT of work. I don't see why they thought having to prod a clanker to get meaningful statistics is a good thing other than showing off their LLM prowess?

I use a Garmin for the runs which in itself has inherent flaws because Garmin in their wisdom isn't letting pace splits to import over so coach is working with less data but still way more rich data than my Fitbit air can produce.

I feel I have to spend a good 10 minutes post run to prod with coach clanker to get it to look properly at the data to summarise the run which could be done better with charts and being able to rate the exercise akin to Garmin with a score, not a deep and meaningful over my pocket friend.

I'm in Australia so after the three months is up it will be $15 a month to continue which at this point I'm pretty unlikely to do. Don't get me wrong I'm loving the Fitbit air as a daily wear and what metrics it produces but right now it ends there. I'd be better off once it costs money just to load up my own plans on the Garmin and keep the Google Health space clanker free.

GHealth - Cardio Load

New owner of a Fitbit air for about a week (3rd Fitbit overall including the OG clip). I also run with a Garmin.

How useful is the cardio load metric? I have health connect doing it's thing bringing over my runs but also the air is auto detecting.

Once health connect has done it's thing and brings my run over it has a good amount of detail but no cardio load score.

Soon after, it gets wiped and replaced by the airs own auto detect activity rendering health connect pointless however it does bring in a cardio load score as part of its metrics.

What are people doing here? Turn off auto detect or take the Fitbit data as "better" over an actual GPS watch. For me it was an interval workout part of a coach plan and it recognised the splits and all, only to replace it with the airs basic data.

Shifting daily wear - RHR reads higher

Got the air on Thursday and up to Wednesday my Garmin Vivoactive 5 was the daily wear.

RHR has jumped on the air plus I'm wearing it on my dominant wrist now so I can wear my mechanic watches again.

Anyone else experienced this? Seems a bit odd.

My 4a in black with bumper 👌

So far reception appears the same with some speed drops on speed test. Time will tell.

Vivoactive 5 excessive battery drain immediately after FW update 17.05 a day ago..

An update was issued 24 hours ago (could have sworn it said to 17.09). Anyway, ever since it didn't last the night and it's on the way to completely draining in around 24 hours.

This is the second time this has happened, the last update (17.01?) also caused the same issue and the only fix was to completely reset. I'm not running any apps other than a couple of Garmin watch faces and segment 34 mk ii.

Is there anything I can do other than a full reset?

Is anyone else experiencing this?

How can Garmin in 2026 still screw up like this...

Someone told me that you need to get some cycles in to be more accurate on capacity. Could this be why in India it's 5400mah stated? (I'm in Australia)

Just switched over from a pixel 7 to a 4a (12+256gb). First charge from under 15% shows the battery is a little better than stated capacity. Not bad!
