Shifts: Essays on Design, Technology, and Visual Culture
I started Shifts as a space to think about design beyond aesthetics, trends, or tools.
The essays explore how design operates within larger cultural, technological, and systemic transformations: from Bauhaus, cybernetics, and media theory to AI, generative systems, interfaces, branding, and digital culture.
What interests me most is how systems shape perception, behavior, and meaning today. Especially in a moment where design increasingly moves from creating objects to organizing relationships, environments, and experiences.
Shifts brings together perspectives from design theory, visual culture, technology, and contemporary art to examine how emerging systems influence the way we see, think, and interact.
Would love to connect with others interested in:
- design theory
- media theory
- AI and visual culture
- cybernetics
- systemic design
- contemporary aesthetics
- cultural implications of technology
Curious how others here think about these shifts as well.
Are contemporary systems still expanding perception or increasingly shaping behavior? What do you think?
