so apparently rat feast leak is true

something tells me they’re gonna make rhaenyra a “good queen” by having her redirect all her anger and vengeance towards the nobles while giving out food and helping out the smallfolk, something she definitely does in the book 🥸, like what they had her do in s2, sending food to kingslanding through blackwater bay as to have the smallfolk turn against the greens.

everytime someone says aegon II maritally raped helaena i get so upset

he was 15!!! they were both underage making it rape if we’re really going by that logic.

they were both equally forced into this marriage and to consummate it. both forced to have kids way too young and both never grew to love each other romantically.

the one take that truly gets on my nerves is when someone says “he didn’t have to consummate the marriage” like do you think they wouldn’t be forced to regardless, if they were already forced to marry ??

people act like aegon and helaena had a normal marriage from the start and aegon was the one who ruined it by maritally raping (something that people came up with based off helaena’s line from the supper scene in s1 ep 8) and neglecting helaena. as if it wasn’t literal forced childhood incest and parenthood.

the unnecessary villainisation of aegon is truly odd. like hasn’t the show done enough in portraying him in the worst light possible, why are we now trying to come up with our own headcanons that he’s even worse of a person than he is written to be.

anyways i blame viserys (in the book and the show too fuck it)

i don’t think i actually care to see a full trailer

at this point, with the two teaser and the intense amount of leaks being released we kind of already have a pretty good idea of what’s happening this season.

In defense of book alicent

it would be easy to write off alicent as a typical villainous character who seeks power selfishly and seemingly at the cost of others and ends up falling from her high steps and losing everything in the process, but this would not be fair to her or this story that’s structured quite deeply.

alicent is an ambitious character, yes, but she is also a victim to a system that ensures that she can only attain power and influence through her marrying the right man and bearing him children, and not by her own rights or merits.

she believes by carrying out her duty and bearing the king the children he desperately wished to have, she’ll receive recompense, stability, influence and good societal standing for her and her family. she’s let down when none of that happens, she’s then only left with no titles, inheritance or any future assurances for her children, and her in a position she will soon have to step down from after her husband’s death, all at the behest and ignorance of her husband.

she knew at this moment her family’s lives are in danger regardless of what she does, so she chooses to fight for what she believes are her children’s rights even if blood has to be shed. it pains me when people who sympathise with rhaenyra don’t also sympathise with alicent as they are both victims of the same system that has managed to strip them of their rights.

there’s always a tb fan on twitter who learns a new buzzword and starts running around with it

i saw this tweet and could not stop laughing.

is aegon and alicent’s relationship salvageable ?

i remember post watching s1 finding alicent and aegon’s relationship so interesting. you can tell she disliked a lot of his actions and the way he turned out to be after growing up but she still felt a strong sense of love and protectiveness for him. despite the fact that he turned out to be the way he is due to her lacklustre parenting but regardless.

yet in s2, you can see a very subtle shift in the tone of their relationship, she no longer seems to invest emotionally in him, acting very carelessly and without any regard to his feelings after his son’s death. she’s so bitter in every conversation she has with him. i saw an interview from olivia i think during s2 promo period, where she said alicent becomes very upset after she starts releasing the reins of power are slipping from her hands once she crowned her son. and she starts lashing out. and that does make sense as to why she starts acting the way she does with aegon, as she realises that he won’t be the malleable king his father was.

but not being able to comfort your own son after your grandchild’s death downright makes no sense to me, unless you genuinely just hate your son. and the whole argument of “alicent isn’t able to show parental affection and support to her children because she was never given it growing up” doesn’t really hold up considering she’s shown to be completely capable of doing that with helaena and aemond. it’s just very clear she doesn’t care much for aegon in s2, despite having shown otherwise in s1.

i would like to know if you guys think there’s any possibility the show is gonna turn this around in later seasons or not.

anyways cheers once again to the writers and their inconsistent portrayal of alicent.

i mean why could we ever possibly allow hotd to be an entity of itself with its own themes and tropes and not try to constantly remind the viewers of its much more successful predecessor show 🤨

i never understood this line.
what sacrifice was ever made before or in the process of crowning aegon as king?

been in desperate need for some good old angsty tg art.
would love to see some art where tg characters are depicted and you can tell the artist doesn’t absolutely hate them.

One of the comments i see quite often stated in this fandom, is that had otto not manipulated alicent and filled her head with “lies” that her and her children’s lives will be in danger once rhaenyra ascends the throne, then the family wouldn’t be so divided and alicent would’ve raised her kids to support rhaenyra’s claim therefore the dance would be avoided.

I struggle with it a lot because, rhaenyra has been shown to be able to show a more cruel side that is morally problematic, so why would she not be swayed to eliminate the threat of an opposing claim.

This fear was further cemented once rhaenyra and daemon married. Daemon being infamously not beyond committing crimes.

So why is it so difficult to believe otto’s claims aren’t unfounded.

I wouldn’t say that otto’s motivations were purely rooted in actual need to protect his family, there was for sure actual desire for power and need to have his own blood on the throne.

saw this post on ig, where they screenshotted that one tweet discussing the tired old topic of how alicent is a bitch for making rhaenyra walk to her right after giving birth to see that baby, while apparently rhaenyra was kind to alicent when she herself was pregnant.

and then stumbled across this masterpiece of a comment…

it’s insane how tb fans claim they’re feminists cause they support their queen and call tg misogynists yet find it within themselves to talk about a woman like that just for being mean to their fave.

also i’m flabbergasted at the conclusion they drew that alicent’s a bitch for saying travelling while pregnant is not too hard as this way she’s implying aemma’s weak for dying in birth.. are we fr now.

i HATE that they made aemond like aegon’s biggest enemy now while he should be focused on getting back his throne from rhaenyra his ACTUAL opponent
