Introducing the Safari MCP server for web developers

“In Safari Technology Preview 247, we’re introducing the Safari MCP server — a Model Context Protocol server for web developers that makes your web development and debugging workflow faster and more powerful.

Any MCP-compatible client can connect to the Safari MCP server. By connecting your agent to a Safari browser window, your agent can emulate what your users experience, giving it the information it needs to debug more autonomously, like access to the DOM, network requests, screenshots, and console output.“

Apple Journal’s Atrocious Undo Bug Has Been Fixed (And Swiftui, Per Se, Is Not To Blame)

From Gruber:

>"I heard from Apple PR that:

>The text editing component in Journal is in fact UIKit, not SwiftUI, so I was wrong to blame SwiftUI just because Journal is largely SwiftUI-based.

>The bug had been identified and fixed for a future update.

>Well, the future is already here, because the buggy Undo behavior in Journal is fixed in developer beta 2 on both MacOS and iOS 27. Nice. I hope it gets fixed for the 26.6 releases too, but at the moment it’s still broken in the current developer beta of 26.6 (and, of course, still broken in all the v26.5 OSes). So be careful while writing in Journal."

Apple Maps to Get These 10 New Features in iOS 27

Basically a summary of past posts about it here but with a bit more details.

I for one am wondering where Visited Places is expanding to? Can anyone on the 27 betas confirm which new countries?

Also when will Local Lists start expanding beyond US? Are contour maps expanding to other countries as well?

Signal on Mac App Store

Hi everyone,

It seems this topic has been brought up here before 2 years ago and also in the Community 6 years ago. It seems as of latest 8.14 desktop version, Signal on Desktop still doesn't support App Sandboxing, which was released 15 years ago with OS X Lion.

My questions are:

A. Why can't App Sandboxing be implemented? Seems like a pretty important security feature to me and Signal prides itself on both privacy and security.

B. Why can't it be released on Mac App Store? Both WhatsApp and Telegram are already there between 3-10 years ago. I don't wanna have another updater process running and having to update manually, have another app without sandboxing or having to fuddle with dmg files. It also seems to me it would help discovery and trust as ordinary users are more likely to use MAS. Also as it's already on App Store for iOS/iPadOS, they're already paying for the developer fee, so surely a universal app would make sense like in the case of the above apps.

C. Where do I file feedback about it? It seems the developer team doesn't review/respond in that Community forum and there's no other way I see to file enhancement requests.

Unhappy with Journal in macOS/iOS 27? File feedback!

Updated to signify the difference between production and beta feedback.

Hi folks,

This sounds obvious, but Apple does not officially read feedback on Reddit, only on their Feedback page. If you are unhappy with Journal in macOS/iOS 26 production not including features and still having bugs or missing features, please file them on the feedback page.

You can also send macOS/iOS 27 beta for Journal Feedback via Feedback Assistant which collects feedback specifically for beta versions of software, allows you to view past submissions and also has Journal for macOS as category. To access it, go to Safari and type: AppleFeedback://

I've already submitted several bugs a few months ago for macOS 26.3 Journal handling multiple photos poorly and crashing (likely due to SwiftUI bugs), locations search enhancements, text issues and others. I will make it even easier for you and help out with some of the enhancement requests/bug reports, so you can just copy/paste them there to help prioritise:

Bug Reports

Subject: Multiple Photos Mishandled

Comments:

User issue: When adding and dragging multiple photos between text (not in the header), photos get shrunk to incorrect sizes, can't flow properly between texts and often crash the app completely.

Solution: Investigate root causes of hard crashes (likely within SwiftUI framework) and enhancements to photo resizing within Journal. Ideally build in same photo and text engine as in UIKit to improve stability in the short term.

Ideal State: User should never face hard crashes of the app, and if so the app should immediately reopen to the same entry, instead of the main view. Photos should flow naturally between text, allow to be resized in any way (like in Pages) and ideally should be intelligently inserted such as in Day One app.

Enhancement Requests

1.

Subject: On This Day
Comments:

User issue: Users do not have access to journal entry memories and this makes surfacing past entries challenging.

Solution: Utilize Apple Intelligence to begin surfacing past entries within the app and widgets to show users past entries made a year ago or for special anniversaries or other events. Encourage users to reflect on these entries and allow them to 'Quote' past entries in the present so they can go back to them with one tap/click.

Ideal State: Users should be made aware of past entries to encourage them to reflect on journaling and help them make it a habit, apart from only streaks

2.
Subject: Location Search Enhancements
Comments:

User issue: Users have issue searching in Journal poor experience and hardly any suggestions, particularly for entries made in far away locations. Journal also tends to occasionally crash while adding multiple locations.

Solution: Use same Apple Search engine as Apple Maps and surface relevant POI data. App should use ranking to prioritise nearby locations with Search Nearby, but also allow users to search by address, country, category and other data points. The search list should be expanded with more options than just 13 and allow users to more easily add far away POI's in other countries. Search should also never crash the app, please investigate any root causes.

Ideal State: Users would have the options to filter by any of the above option, in addition to manually adding points from a map.

3.
Subject: Achievements
Comments:

User issue: Users currently do not have Achievement options for journal entries and are only limited to Streaks

Solution: Add various Achievement options to Journal like in Game Center, Workout or upcoming in Apple Books to encourage users to submit further entries. Ideas include: 5/3/1 years of entries, 5/3/1 year/month/week consistent entries, Locations across continents or the world, All Achievements and Adding all types of entries, including photos, voice recordings, locations and drawing. Time limited Achievements should also be included, such as journaling about workout activities, birthdays, global and local events and so on.

Ideal State: Users would have a place to view all their Achievements within Journal and would be encouraged more proactively to complete journal entries, with Achievement reminders and allowing them to share with other users their accomplishments. This would also encourage further use of Apple Journal.

Feel free to use the same template to submit yours:

My other submissions will include:

  • Journaling Suggestions on macOS
  • iCloud Sync Progress Bar across platforms
  • iCloud web Journal
  • Filtering options (Photos, Dates, POI's) in Places view
  • Calendar enhancements, including search and year/month view
  • Linking to other apps like Notes, Calendar & Reminders
  • Apple Intelligence enhancements for Insights

I have many more ideas, but that's right now off the top of my head. Let me know what you think!

Are AVSystemRouting and Media Device Frameworks Apple's answer to Spotify Connect?

Hey everyone,

Just noticed the new beta AVSystemRouting and Media Device Frameworks sound a lot like Spotify Connect, except available to any media app. Can we expect r/AppleMusic and other apps to have this with iOS/iPadOS/MacCatalyst 27?

iOS 26.6 brings MapsBlastDoor Framework

“Another notable addition is MapsBlastDoorSupport.framework. Apple added a dedicated MapsBlastDoorService.xpc, mirroring the BlastDoor isolation model already used by iMessage attachment parsing. The change suggests Apple is sandboxing potentially risky Maps parsing operations into isolated XPC services to reduce exploit exposure.”
