Disappointed with the engine noise.

Im disappointed in the engine noise level.

I find that I have to walk forward yet holding the wheel in one hand behind in order to have a conversation under way on our boat. Sitting in the captains seat and all I can hear is the splash and engine even at 1700 rpm’s.

Bought new 2023 Harris 25 Classic Tri toon. 150 HP Mercury. Kept in new condition. Easily handle family outings with 18 persons. I’m hoping I will one day forget the high cost of this boat. So far I’m still reeling at what I spent. 😳

Ok sure it’s way nicer and larger than our previous 2013 23’ Bennington with a 115 HP. Carpeted floors are the worst.

I don’t want to be cranky about this but I find the noise and isolation annoying. My hand gestures are misinterpreted as overly aggressive. 🤔

If I upgrade the boat what are the quieter options? Electric outboards or other configuration? Please don’t say add a sail. lol

I goofed. Cut the cabinet door?

I’m installing a new kitchen with nice quality pre-finished flat pack cabinets. Lacquer finish.

In this kitchen a range hood insert was chosen and a standard 24” deep wall cabinet was cut down to 18” deep to fit the unit.

In a rush I goofed and added a scribe trim where I was not intending. Now the door does not fit at all.

The problem started with a 3/4” x 1 1/2” bottom trim that did not miter nicely and I added a scribe trim to the face to cover it up.

However I just discovered I am over the face frame on the left side by 3/8” with the door touching the scribe trim.

Moving the vent cabinet to the right to add a 3/8” filler would be a royal pain and would then not match the cabinets to the right of the window that also has a 1” of tile.

1: cut 1/2” off the right side of the cabinet door and finish it as best I can? The spray stain / lacquer rattle can they offer actually finishes much darker than the original.

2: cut the door the 1/2” only where it meets the hood trim and upwards? Then to finish that upper edge as best I can. I think that would be an obvious mistake.

3: remove all the trim below the vent cabinet and redo it tighter and with a different trim? Perhaps the same light rail trim? I struggle with miters with pre-finished materials.

FYI the stainless commercial style hood is to be dropped lower 3/4” once all the trim is in place.

I don’t see where to add the necessary photos. 🤷‍♂️

Garage & side door color

My insulated aluminum garage doors have faded.

I tried the chemical treatment that is supposed to revive the finish but it did nothing.

The garage door metal are dimpled like a golf ball with the bottom of the dimples are white and a wood grain finish was factory applied.

I recently replaced my front door. Mahogany with Provincial stain & spar urethane. I like that look.

I’d prefer the garage door color to compliment the new front door but can’t get a handle on how to pull it off.

It will likely have to be painted but what color?

If you know of a practical wood graining process you’ve done, I’d like to hear about it.

Grout color

I’m in the middle of a remodel project.

My designer AI is suggesting Frost or Warm Gray grout for a shadow effect highlighting the mfg uneven edge (fake handmade style).

The tile is an inexpensive 3” x 12” solid coconut / almond color with a pillow face and uneven edge.
Cabinets are Jarlin Toffee Shaker
Carrara quartz
Floor to be NuCore Gunstock Oak.
Walls to be painted a light sage green.

I have always leaned to use the same color grout as the background so the grout disappears.

I’m uncomfortable with a contrasting grout color.

This is in an 2001 English Tudor home where I reconfigured the kitchen / dining room moving / removing walls for a more open space and added a large walk in pantry.

Your thoughts?
