1838, ‘The Battle of Bossenden Wood’.

I was recently shown these swords by an old friend of mine. He thinks they might have belonged to the infamous William Courtenay (one of his many names), the absolute nutter responsible for ‘The Battle of Bosseden Wood’, the last battle to ever take place on
British soil.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

An unpleasant but necessary solution.

Operation Nimrod, 5th May 1980. An unpleasant but necessary solution 🇬🇧

Red Team, alongside Blue Team, executed a simultaneous, multi-point assault to end the Iranian Embassy siege. Red Team was specifically responsible for storming the upper floors (second, third, and fourth floors) of the 16 Princes Gate embassy. They famously abseiled from the roof and used explosives to breach rear windows.

Last weekend was the anniversary of the seventeen minute operation that rescued all but one of the hostages and solidified the SAS’s elite status.
