I bought this Uniden R8W on eBay for $669.99 which you know... sus to buy on eBay. It had everything the manual, OG case thing, suction cups. At first I thought I may have bought a fake/dud. But it had bluetooth and did the firmware update. I wanted to get it from Amazon but at the time it kept saying "your locker choice is full".

I'm thankful somebody commented for me to use the settings from vortex radar I did actually do that. I just run it full volume because I have music. Sometimes it's brutal like gives me anxiety actually the beep beeP beEP bEEP BEEP BEEP you know when it speeds up as you near something.

I also realize a lot of troopers (where I mostly use the RD) don't seem to have their radar on. So finally I know what frequency they're on which is cool

The range is good too I was way down the road still picking up the motorcycle. But before today I'd hear it go off and I couldn't find the cop so it's nice to see it work. This is stealth mount on a modded manual VT 14. I've taken this car to 150mph a few times it's rare since you need a long ass road but yeah also don't want to go to jail. I usually try to not go past 100 now but still do. It's hard habit to beat... I'm on my 3rd ticket (all 10-15mph over) which they have this thing you get 3 in a year can get suspended... got an attorney this time. I have to stop it... idk it's hard... but I won't be able to drive my Lotus Exige even if I can buy it lmao. One reason I'm waiting till I move to a nicer neighborhood.

Trying to figure out my plan of attack here. Here are the deets

This car is pretty stock other than a custom ECU tune. The CEL came on out of the blue first one ever. I have an OBD2 scanner so I got the code, that's the only code. I actually drove it for a bit as I was looking at the boost pressure. It's still able to hit 16 even 18 PSI at one point. So it's not in limp mode and also there's no compressor surge I was listening for that.

I was watching some videos on how to get to the solenoid. Not sure if I need to do like leak testing. Might also be the diaphragm. I turned the code off and it came back on so yeah I gotta do something about it lol. It has 110K miles.

The 2nd pic there's a blue thing down there wasn't sure if that's the solenoid/stock piece. $50 solenoid on eBay least it's not bad, definitely trying to do this myself, solenoid is black and grey so not the blue thing. I think the area in red I have circled is a BPV not the solenoid.

F man you need ramps, yeah I'm gonna use this expensive ass maxcare lmao, yeah if it's like $200 that's cool. Sorry guys still not a true car guy, I'm at an apt complex not trying to buy ramps although I do have tires to swap between winter/summer. I do want to use this maxcare that I've been paying for and never used. I'll post an update as to what happens.

I do have that bumper sag. voxx falco and kumho 235/40s which I'm not sure I regret buying since I already have all weather cinturato pirellis 225/40s regarding highway acceleration but the fatter tires look better

These are Kumho Sport since the PS-31s were discontinued... I do like the thinner tires, the PS31s were 215/40. These are 235/40. But I also don't like the carriage wheel look (huge gap between wheel well and low profile tires) so idk, not like I'm getting coil overs.

Also got my Unider R8W mounted, pretty happy with that.

Idk if there's a huge performance gain between these tires and the Cinturato all weathers from Pirellis I had on but I'll swap between em for winter/summer. Almost got these Toyos that were thin but also cost more.

I gotta do a better job tire shopping I keep getting tires I don't want lol, like I wanted the Continental DS-06+ before and they're like "we don't have those" so I went with Pirellis lmao.

First drive in the rain it feels solid, planted. I'm comparing against the Pirellis All Weather cinturatos I had on that were 225/40.

I didn't realize how massive the R8W is. I don't have much room on the top left of my mirror. This is a manual Veloster turbo 2014. Blend mount may have actually been a better move than the stealth mount although I like how easy it is to detach the RD. I can do it before I pull into some place.

The sucker is visible at least it's black... since it has to sit far to the right of the window mount. Got it mirror tapped. First day using it, I'm just using auto. Pretty quiet, it chirps near some red lights. I still haven't actually had it go off and see the cop so that's interesting... I did see some of those cruiser style vehicles white/black unmarked when it chirped so idk maybe.

I did center it, after these pics... so it's not like mounted facing the right, it was a little.

One thing is I had hoped the bluetooth would automatically connect and cut into my spotify music playing on the car speakers... as I usually have my music blasting... for now I've got the volume set to 8. It's not great that the display is not directly in my line of sight but not hard to quickly glance up at what the alert is. I'm using waze for now.

This car has an old infotainment system so that's why I got the phone mount, doesn't even have built in GPS lol.

I did adjust the cable after this pic to make it have more slack, when you put the mirror wire harness cover back on it pulls the cable tight.

I have a minor top tint and the center mirror part has the dark area too. But my side windows don't have tints. I just bought a Uniden R8W and permanent mirror mount, will be doing the mirror tap for hardwire.

I live at an apt complex so that's why I'm worried. I also think I could get int the habit of removing it all the time but kind of sucks.

Can I get by with just R8W and Waze? I downloaded the highway radar app on Android and it has this SABRE plugin I have to install... which seems to be a side-loaded APK.

Might laugh a RD in a VT lmao but I need it, third ticket already. I only get nabbed on the highway so that's really where I'm looking to use it.

I'm pretty psyched, I remember talking to this guy at a gas station with his mustang and he's like "yeah man you should definitely get a RD" now I have one, I'm growing up.
