Hey everybody, so I have looked on YouTube and done everything that they had told me and I’m still at a loss on why I don’t have audio. So an important note is I am just now getting where I can fix my veloster, my transmission had went out and I’ve just now gotten that fixed and as you can tell in the video below, I have been messing with the AC also thankfully I’ve gotten both of those issues fixed as of today, but while I have everything apart, I figured I would ask if any of you have ever had to deal with this apparently pretty common issue on our cars. Some other relevant info is mine is a 2016, I believe base model and before it fully went out I was having trouble with the passenger door speaker where it would almost buzz because I’m guessing the speakers are so cheap and then it just went out. I have had to have a new battery put in this thing so I wonder if it’s maybe not a connection there but I haven’t found a video that would show me where the audio line would connect to the battery if that’s even possibly an issue. To be fully honest, I had to park the car for about a year and a half so a lot of this is me trying to have remember and re-remember. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried resetting it and that did not work.
went from a 16 with nothing to a 14 with nav and tech package!! couldn’t be happier so far
Bought a radio head unit for a 2013 Veloster off lkq they replaced it with a dimension audio version when the first one didn't pass quality. They then sent me the correct radio and told me to recycle the first one they sent but I'd prefer not to waste a perfectly good radio.
Anyone want to buy it for cheap?
The part number is 96560-2v731.
My Veloster makes noise and shakes a bit when im on a highway, driving around 100km/h. It doesn't happen always, on average 1 times per week what makes it very strange. My steeringwheel begins to vibrate and it feels like the source in the area of my right front wheel. Today it shook far more violently. Everytime it happens it goes away after a short while. Anyone had this same problem?
I installed a k&n typhoon intake into my 2016 turbo and ive been having this weird "coughing/chopping?" Sound happen on cold starts but only like 50% of the time. I can start it one day and nothing, just the normal woosh, then the next day ill start it and get this weird sound that I can not understand where exactly its coming from. Also I believe my turbo is blown bc it is fluttering at the end of a cold start(as stated in my last post).

So here's a weird and semi-interesting theory. I think the car used for this review in Motor Trend is actually my car, not that it really matters, but is kind of cool I guess. I doubt there's any easy way to prove it, but here's why I think it is.
First, obviously, my car is exactly the same model and options as the test car...not that there were many options, but color being the most variable. I have no idea how many '17 VTs with the Tech Package and the 6MT in Vitamin C were sold. Note, in the pic below of my car,I had switched the wheels with the ones from my 2012 NAV, which I like better. The car originally had the factory 18" rims as shown in the reviews (and now on my 2012).
Next, my car has a kind of weird CarFax ownership history. I noticed it when I bought it, but couldn't really figure out what the deal was and it wasn't something that was concerning to me then. The car was shipped to the US on 8/22/16. It was first titled on 2/19/18 and listed as a Corporate Fleet vehicle....but listed as only 12 miles on the odometer...a year and a half later. And this title was done at the Fountain Valley DMV, which is the same city Hyundai America is located in! The VT was then sold at auction two months later 4/24/18 with 10,630 miles(!!), and listed as a "Manufacturer Vehicle", IOW, Hyundai Corp owned it.
Then it went into dealer inventory and took a few months to sell to it's next real owner, who was the only other owner until I bought it.. Also of note is that the vehicle had three maintenance services performed at a dealership during the 18 month period before it had that first title issued.
I am fully aware that dealers allow certain employees to use cars for personal use before they're sold (I have friends in the car biz), sometimes for extended periods. But an orange, 6-speed manual hatch like a VT seems an unlikely choice to pick as a daily driver. Also, I don't think those are listed as "manufacturer" vehicles when finally sold. I also am quite aware that it can take a while to sell a metallic orange, 3-door, manual transmission hatchback. 😛
Anyway, just thought I'd share. What do you think??
Hey guys,
Ive noticed that sometimes during the afternoon hot weather, my rpms on my 2015 VT are kinda unstable but my car has never been stalled. Ive been trying to figure out what is goin on but I dont really know what is it. I have 0 fault codes. May it be misfires?
I’ve got a 2019 Base Model Veloster, and while I love it (I got it for an amazing deal, so don’t hate the base model), it doesn’t have push to start. I was wondering, is it possible to swap out a higher trim models console and push to start button and get push to start on mine? Might be a stupid question.
I know there’s aftermarket push to start things as well, I was just wondering if this was possible. Thanks!
Man I hit one of those parking concrete bumper things f thought I was gonna clear it guess not
I was going to reattach it but the black actually looks better? I don't like the teeth but yeah
Thinking about picking up this 2012 1.6 base DCT, sitting at 209k KM(I’m in Canada) for $3500 CAD.
Runs and drives well. But with all the research I’ve done, and everything I’ve read, I’m terrified.
Am I being overdramatic or is it justified?
Good buy or walk away?
Thanks guys
Was 7 years old apparently dayum!
The automated car wash destroys my rims it's unfortunate
These tires are 235/40 they are slow, if you want to hit 150 mph you need 215/40 eg. Ecsta PS-31 which are discontinued 😔
Ive noticed after installing a k&n typhoon cai and a turbosmart kompact bov that around 3.5k-4k rpms i get a higher pitched, constant fluttering noise. If I go above 5k rpms the fluttering turns into a quiet hiss. After letting off the gas there is no psss noise from the bov (that only happens at a slightly open throttle) This is not the normal turbo "tsu-tsu-tsu-tsu" ive heard when shifting gears or letting off the gas (ive never heard that in my car personally) am I cooked?
Edit:2016 veloster turbo btw, there is also a video of the sound im talking about in the comments
Edit 2: after some help in the comments and some research myself I'm pretty confident that it is just turbo surge
I failed to post pics of my high mileage lil demon yesterday. Stormtrooper white and 1/4 of a million miles.
So I recently got a 2016 veloster turbo with about 120k miles on it and the day I got it it started ticking. The ticking got faster and louder when higher RPMs. I took it in and the just replaced the timing chain but the tick was still there. Thay said it shold be fine but keep an ear out. It did in fact get loader and louder until I lost all rpms at a red light and wouldn't start again. A few day later it started up with the tick still there and the exhaust sounding really bad. As well as all of the coolant gone. And a dark green past all around the turbo. There is still brand new oil in the engine
HI, I basically got my 2014 veloster turbo last months and has been working on repairing it. It is my first car and I know getting a car with problems might not have been the smartest decision but it was within my budget and the driving experience was great.
I came to an autoshop to have my turbocharger checked (inherited problem from previous owner) and the shop recomended me to change the wastegate as it is a typical culprit and relatively affordable compared to other stuffs. I just want to hear if that's trully is the most typical problem or if there are any other potential culprits that I might need to be aware of. the code that came out was P2261.
Thanks
2013 VT bought in 2016 with about 35,000 miles. Original engine and transmission.
This happens only under acceleration above 2500-3000 rpm
At a standstill pressing the gas this doesn’t happen
Does anyone know what this can be?
