Just curious why players do / don’t have mics on.

So what’s behind your decision to have your mic on or off? Don’t have a mic? Social anxiety? Some other reason? From what I can tell most don’t have mics on. I always do, have had some good convos with other players I come across or who stop by my camp. Having mics on is, imo, way less awkward than off, I’ve had players stop by my camp and wave / hat tip & then there’s an awkward silence as we stand & stare at each other until one of us leaves. Same with accepted moonshine shack invites. Plus it baffles me when I get a posse invite from someone without a mic / mic off, the likelihood of me accepting is massively higher if you tell me what we’re going to be up to & co-ordinate while doing it. And PVP, to me, is more fun when you can trash talk back & forth. ‘Sensory overload’ isn’t a thing in my experience, I rarely hear any chatter at all, let alone multiple convos at once.

What formula do people stick to for feeding horses?

I stick to a wild carrot + a burdock root or bulrush in the morning then an apple, celery, hay, or corn in the evening & my horse seems to always stay at fit physique.

2 playthroughs & 100hrs. in online and for the first time…

I saw people congregating outside a church (Blackwater) & heard the church bells ringing. It really is the little things that make it worth doing multiple playthroughs & spending time in online.

Why are horses so dumb?

Two examples I’ve experienced: 1) big immovable object in front of it with a clear path to the right, to the left is a large animal, wagon, or another rider, & the horse will swerve into the oncoming animal or traffic instead of the clear safe path. 2) many times before in online I’ve noticed if I ride my horse too far into camp it will start walking back to the hitching post after I dismount, not usually a problem. The other day it did this but my horse walked straight into the campfire & lit on fire. I saw it quick enough to exit & start a new session without my horse dying, but really?

I know it’s a massive longshot but…

…thanks to anyone who’s come across Nash Cochrane, Toquenbrew1, in RDO that may be Redditors. Despite finishing multiple playthroughs in story mode I’m only a few days irl into RDO. I’ve done most of the intro group missions & have felt pretty useless on a few as I haven’t contributed much to the groups & just been trying to keep up with my low stats beginner horse & watching the group members do all the work. All the players I’ve been grouped with seem to have other players muted & don’t use text, so the only communication I’ve had is the odd emote. So if any of you happen to see this through some miracle, thanks for being patient and not dicks to the ‘almost useless newb’. I hope when I’m high level I’ll be a helpful & patient group member to newbs too.
