How to reduce expenses in Mumbai?

I order milk when I get discount, rarely on MRP. I order groceries on apps that give discounts on cards. We barely use appliances, yet electricity bill is as high as somebody who uses AC for 8 hours (have complained). Now, I'm wondering, how else can I reduce the expenses? What tricks do you guys use because Mumbai is way too expensive

Reducing Sum Insured in HDFC Optima Secure

I think I may have taken a very high coverage of 50L sum insured and I'm considering reducing it to 35L. Has anybody done this before? What are the downsides of doing this? Does this affect the bonus I may have accumulated?

Municipal Water making my hair fall and frizzy

So I recently shifted and the land Lord mentioned there being municipal (BMC) water coming through the tap that's directly linked to the tank (which we need to fill two times a day during specific time slot), while the other taps get borewell water. Now, it's been two months and all of us have noticed that are hair is falling a lot more than before and is also extremely frizzy, which wasn't the case at our earlier home. I thought municipal water is not bad for hair? So why is this affecting our hair and how can we find a solution to this? Most softners available online are strictky for hard water, but municipal water is considered soft water.

Are Government Insurers a good last resort if Private Players deny?

Hi,

I have been looking to purchase insurance for my mother since two years now. After extensive research, I applied to HDFC but they denied the policy. Further, I got to know that only Care and Star Health are offering an insurance. I'm not inclined towards either as both have a psthetic reputation (despite my grandmother having a good claim experience in Star only because of PB claims team) I'm wondering if I should apply for a insurance through some government insurer? How does it will work? Has anybody experienced this before?
