Mackmyra - Svensk Ek

A lovely lovely gift from a dear Swedish friend of mine. Now consumed in my man cave. This stuff is so pungent, peppery, liquorice and brine. An extremely dancing straight through the middle of the tongue finish.

It’s not like anything I’ve had from Scotland, very peppery, aftertaste is a classic Granny Smith. A lively whisky at first, not a great finish at all if I’m honest, but it’s very different to the hundreds of different single malts I’ve tried over the years. That first kick is really interesting.

Cambridge Audio A100

Hey everyone, so I would have to say overall, these buds have been on the market for a while, but I am very satisfied with these. Normally I’ve stuck with JBL purely because it’s a mass produced buy and forget brand here in Germany (in a positive sense way), but previously owning Cambridge audio, I just keep coming back to them every few years.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Cambridge Audio. After my Melomania 1+ which served me well for five years of daily studio use before battery and connectivity issues forced a replacement, I found myself considering the usual suspects: the JBL Tour Pro 2 which I’d bought for my wife, the Denon PerL Pro, the Nothing Ear 3, and even the much hyped SoundPEATS. But in the end I stuck with Cambridge Audio and I’m glad I did.
Growing up in the 90s and 2000s, I knew Cambridge Audio and Denon as brands that quietly delivered exceptional hi fi experiences without the fanfare like other big-hitters at the time.

The A100 is no different, for the price, they must have terrible marketing presence. Unfortunately on my first listen revealed a sound profile that was a little too rich and warm for my taste, the lows were overpowering, muddying the mids and compressing the highs. But after some fine tuning, dialing back the bass and lifting the mids and highs slightly, I was stunned by the clarity. For someone who isn’t a fan of bass heavy earbuds, the A100 now delivers a clean, balanced profile that’s hard to fault, in fact it’s got real clarity that I haven’t heard in in-ear earphones.
At this price point I’ll admit I was skeptical of the very little hype that each YouTube reviewer I could find, they can’t be _that_ good. But the A100 has proven itself as a no nonsense, perfectly tuned (after tinkering) pair of earbuds. They fit like a glove, sound incredible and frankly I don’t see them getting the attention they deserve. All in all I’m very happy with my choice.
