What Would Make an All-in-One Storyboard Tool Actually Useful?

Hey storyboard artists!

I’m creating an all-in-one storyboard tool for storyboard artists, directors, and creative teams called BoardHouse. I would love any advice or opinions from people who actually make storyboards.

We started building it because storyboards always seem to end up scattered across Google Slides, PDFs, emails, notes, and different feedback threads. It gets messy fast, especially when you’re trying to keep everything organized and easy to update.

The current version is more geared toward commercial directors. Right now, you can upload boards, organize sequences, add notes, collaborate with your team, share review links, collect feedback, and export clean decks.

But we want to shift the focus more toward making BoardHouse a useful all-in-one tool for storyboard artists too.

We’re still in the early phase of development and really want to build this with your input!

For storyboard artists, what would you want to see in an all-in-one storyboard tool? What would make your workflow easier?

We would genuinely love any feedback or feature ideas.

You can check out the current version for free here:

We built a free camera package builder with smart compatibility checks!

Hey all!

A DP friend and I have spent the last year building a free website called Arsenal Prep. We started making it because every camera list just ended up being a slob of Notion pages, Google Sheets, text threads, and rental house emails. We just wanted one clean place to build the package, check it, share it, and keep everyone on the same page.

We posted a while back about this and got some great feedback from this community that we’ve implemented!

The main thing we’re excited about is the smart compatibility checks. For instance, if you add a camera and lens combo that might not cover the selected sensor mode, or you forget compatible media, power, or have a camera package that is too heavy for your selected gimbal’s payload, etc., Arsenal Prep will flag it for you.

Some features atm:
- Build camera, lens, media, power, support, wireless video, and AKS lists from an extensive searchable database
- Catch compatibility issues as you build Invite crew so DPs, ACs, producers, or rental coordinators can live edit with you
- Send review links so people can look over the package without endless email/text back-and-forth and also leave comments
- Export clean prep docs when the list is ready

Here’s the link: arsenalprep.com

Hope you enjoy! And hope this can save some time for everyone!

I couldn’t find a gate weave plugin so we built one!

Hello!
A couple years ago, I posted here looking for a drag-and-drop plugin that could simulate gate weave on footage and text in Premiere Pro, but I never found anything that really did the job.

I got tired of having to bounce everything into After Effects or DaVinci, so I decided to build my own. I partnered with a software engineer and we ended up building it and I've been using it on my projects for the past couple of weeks successfully.
The plugin uses tracking data from real 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm film to recreate a natural gate weave feel. We also built in custom controls so you can fine-tune it beyond the presets.

We just launched it on our store.

Appreciate y’all. Hopefully this can help save some time for people!

It’s still early, and I’m sure there are things we haven’t thought of yet, but we feel like it’s at a good place to open it up and get feedback from everyone so that we can make it better and help save folks some time and headaches.

Built a tool for filmmakers to organize their storyboards!

I recently finished building a storyboard organizing website for directors, production teams, and anyone who works with boards regularly.

You can upload boards, drag/reorder frames with automatic indexing based on sequence, add descriptions/dialogue/notes, collaborate live with other users, create client review links, collect feedback, and export clean decks.

I’m a commercial director and work with storyboards constantly. I got tired of using Google Slides and manually reorganizing everything every time boards changed. Also wasn't happy with the other tools out there either, which is why I built this.

I'm looking for filmmakers who would want to beta test this and provide some feedback!

I built a storyboard organizer site - looking for beta testers!

I’m opening it up to a small group of beta testers to help stress test the site and give feedback. Since server storage is still limited right now, I only have a few spots available.

If you’re interested, send me a dm and i'll give you a link.

Appreciate y’all!
