heloo i’m an international student moving to glasgow soon and i was given a lebara sim card during my visa process.
would you recommend sticking with lebara or switching to a different provider after the first month? how is lebara’s coverage/reception around glasgow and are there any providers you’d recommend instead for good coverage and reasonable prices?
hi im an international student coming to the uk for university this year and i’m trying to figure out which bank account would make the most sense for me. i’m thinking of opening two accounts maybe HSBC and Starling. i’d keep most of my money in HSBC and use it for things like tuition and accommodation payments then transfer smaller amounts to Starling for everyday spending. i’d use the Starling card as my main card for things like groceries, restaurants, transport and withdrawing cash from ATMs.
does this make sense or would it be better to just use one bank? also are there any fees when transferring GBP from HSBC to Starling? i’m mainly looking for something that’s easy for an international student. any recommendations or things I should know before opening an account?
i already chose my compulsory classes and i have 80 credits now. i have 40 credits left and in this screenshot it says i need 20 so that’s 20 for each semester right? if its not how am i supposed to fill the remaining 20?
Hii I’m trying to complete my academic registration for the glasgow and I’m staying at kelvinhaugh gate. when I enter the postcode G3 8PE the address search only shows addresses on kelvinhaugh street and all the options include a flat number. I haven’t been given my flat number yet so I’m not sure which address I’m supposed to select. has anyone else had this issue with kelvinhaugh gate and do you know what I should enter?
is this template accurate?

Hi everyone. I’m an incoming international student at the uni of glasgow and I’ve been hearing mixed things recently about safety in glasgow especially at night.
I’m a woman, I wear a hijab and I don’t drink or go clubbing, so my lifestyle is probably quite different from many students. Most of my activities would be things like going to the library, studying, shopping, or meeting friends for coffee.
How safe do you generally feel walking around glasgow during the evening or at night? Are there any areas, parks, or parts of the city that students usually avoid after dark?
I’ve heard some concerning stories recently and wanted to get an honest picture from people who actually live in there. Has safety noticeably changed in the last few years or is the city generally safe if you use common sense?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from international students, women or Muslim students who have lived or still a student in glasgow.
Thank you!! 🌸🌸
hi! a few months ago I selected University of Glasgow as my firm choice and University of Exeter as my insurance choice on ucas. at this point I no longer meet the conditions for Glasgow but I do meet the conditions for Exeter. since I also no longer wish to attend Glasgow I’ve decided that I would definitely like to choose Exeter instead. how should I make this change? should I email both universities? as an international student I’m not very familiar with this process 🥲
Hi I selected Glasgow as my firm choice and Exeter as my insurance choice on ucas a few months ago. however I am unable to meet Glasgow’s ielts requirement. should I upload my ielts score to Glasgow’s applicant portal and wait for them to withdraw their ucas offer so that Exeter becomes my firm choice or should I email them or is there something else I should do?
Hi, I’m an international student and I have a few questions about the visa process.
-Do I need a blocked bank account or can my money stay in my current bank account in Turkish lira?
-I will be studying in Glasgow and how much money do I need to show per month?
-Do I need to show the accommodation I will be staying in?
-Would showing £35,859 in my account for the year be enough? (20,720 tuition + 10,539 for 9 months of living costs + 4,600 extra)
-Also would it be a problem if one of my family members transfers the full amount to my bank account in a single payment? From what I’ve researched it doesn’t seem to be an issue as long as the money is left untouched for 28 days is that correct?
I would really appreciate your help because I’m quite confused right now.
hey guys i need to get a 6.0 in speaking within four weeks. do you have any tips? its crucial 😭😭
hi, i have a conditional offer from glasgow and i already applied for accommodation at the end of february. but from what i see on their website they say they’ll only make me an accommodation offer once my conditional offer becomes unconditional. since i’m an international student, my only remaining requirement is ielts and i’m planning to take it at the beginning of june. that means my offer will likely turn unconditional around early june. do you think there’s a chance i might not get a room?
