2nd installment 2025 Real Estate Taxes are out

After putting in your info, click 'More Tax Bill Information' I knew it'd be rough but oof. Ouch. Remember, everyone : always appeal, every time, either on your own or via a lawyer.

That being said, the most effective property tax lawyers (Madigan, Burke) are doing hard time!

Quick and easy trailer attachment solution for abounds

I'm only going to use a trailer a few times a year, so figured this would work better than trying to deal with the whole axle and then a pin under the floorboards. Can put beach chairs in the trailer and kid on the back seat.

this looks absolutely great. took me a second to realize it would cross over the canal into evanston where the big new structure would then be built

Roundtable update on the (near complete lack of) progress on bike lanes around here

https://evanstonroundtable.com/2026/05/10/evanston-bike-network-improvements/

tl;dr

Skokie: claims to be working on Church from Canal to forest preserve (they've claimed this for the last 3 years, at least) supposedly tying in the Old Orchard path across the Kennedy, which they've been working on for a few years now. Oakton down to one lane + center turn + paths. Desperately needed for getting to library, so of course this is just skokie blvd to canal. Crawford redesign to start in 2028 and will surely take years. That road is nearly unrideable with the amount of potholes right now.

Evanston: claims to be doing Church from Canal to Dodge in 2028 (a complete joke).
Construction to 'start' on Chicago in 2028. Nothing listed about the Church/Dodge/proposed park cluster

Wilmette: Sidepaths near the top end of skokie blvd. E/W bike lanes on Wilmette/glenview Sharrows on ridge - 2030

Lincolnwood: bike lanes on Pratt, plus a BRIDGE on Pratt to chicago. Now that's pretty cool. 2028

Whole lot of plans that are mostly a coat of paint that can't be done for another 4-5 years for no apparent reason. I expect crawford and oakton to get blocked due to public freakouts about losing a lane
