Tile choice advice
I'm planning a shower and bath remodel. I'm choosing tile for the project and have it down to 3.
A. 24x24 porcelain rectified tile, 10mm thick. $14/sf
B. 12x24 porcelain rectified tile, 9mm thick. $12) sf
C. 12x24 porcelain Non rectified tile, 8mm thick. $6/sf
I love the idea of rectified tile needing less grout to clean and having a nearly seamless look. But.... My 20 yo house has settling issues and the current shower walls, which have 10x10 ceramic tiles, are not level. Will Rectified tiles even work?
I am also concerned about the larger format tiles cracking with settling. I feel like the larger caulk gap of non rectified tile might be my safest choice, eg, any cracks will appear along grout lines and easily repaired.
Note: I've had my house inspected by an engineer recently who said I just have normal settling due to clay soil going thru periods of wet and dry weather.
