I honestly do not understand all the doom and gloom...

I've got 400+ hours at this point. I log in every day and play every day, wait times haven't increased... I mean I guess I'll find out eventually but at this point I just play the game and I haven't seen any difference? Tons of doomer shit lately just doesn't correlate with my actual day-to-day experience in the game.

Edit: Man, after Arc Raiders and now this - as a grown-ass man I think I've just learned that the gaming community in general is absolutely toxic af. Probably the last time I join a sub regarding any game.

Sample "Wind-Up" - Torque Problem? Or Normal?

Hey all sorry for the newbie question but, I just got my first "real" 12" turntable a few days ago (first one was a Numark PT-01 Scratch). Edit: Should include that I'm fully set up on Serato as well, and I'm scratching on the 12" control record. One thing I've noticed is, I have the torque turned up all the way but samples still have a short "wind-up" period where they start slow and go up to speed. As I've been developing technique I've been giving what in my mind I've been calling a "helper push" to push it up to speed quicker when I need it. Is this a normal thing at high torque? Or should the sample go straight-away at full speed with no wind-up period? Do regular DJ's give that little "helper push" to it to get it up to speed without the wind-up when scratching?

Hoping to hear this is normal and not a problem with the turntable's torque, it's an SL-1200 and the torque is supposed to be great on these - not sure if samples should just jump right in at full speed or if it's normal to have that short "ramping up" period where they go from slow to normal.

Edit: Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I started on r/turntables but those don't seem to be related to scratching or anything but regular turntables and r/turntablism didn't have any entries for 14 years.. -- Cross-posting to r/turntablists as that might be the one.

Edit #2: Honestly thank you so much for all the feedback, I'm also starting to wonder about slipmats - I'm using the original technics slipmat with the plastic slip sheet but I ordered some Dr. Suziki's today - will see how those turn out. Double checked that the torque was at the highest setting yesterday as well. Will see how the new slipmats work out.

What a Game

I've made it to level 55... finally well past the "constantly poor" phase, now the opposite problem constantly presents itself -- how to manage what space I have.

I came over out of feeling done with Arc Raiders. A coworker actually told me about Marathon back when I was bugging him to play Arc with me. I just did the Expedition but I haven't gone back since. Marathon just feels so much more complete, and at level 55 I still don't see any wall coming yet to hit... I love the gameplay and the art style. I've actually only played one squad match. Back when I just got out of beginner, I didn't know squad fill was on by default and I queued up with an awesome couple of guys who played a super fun match with me! Don't know why but I've been playing solos ever since.

Absolutely amazing game, well worth the time to up those skill trees and run free kits until you're practically forced to kit in because you have zero room.

Thanks for the absolute blast of a time I've been having!

I've been spending hours troubleshooting trying to get the wired connection working only to find that the Quick Start Guide lead me in the wrong direction. I can't attach a picture here but on the Quick Start Guide on the left side it says "Connect Cable" and then on the bottom left it says "Switch toggle to Cable" but the graphic shows the switch being thrown all the way to the left (or right from the reverse side). It took me a lot of troubleshooting the cable connection not working to find out that - switching to cable mode is putting the switch in THE MIDDLE - not all the way to the left like the graphic in the Quick Start guide shows. Hours of frustration only to find out the instructions lead me wrong 😞 Just a heads up to anyone who finds this post - Cable Mode is In The Middle!
