Tripsy 3.10.2 Available Now with Multiple Improvements

As always, we keep working to improve Tripsy based on both our own internal testing and the incredibly helpful reports we get from our community. Our latest 3.10.2 update is available now in the App Store, it should auto-update unless you've turned App Store updates off.

It includes:

🔎 Improved Smart Insights to better categorize baggage allowances and other travel information.

🌐 Fixed an issue where timezone changes could be displayed incorrectly on itineraries with multiple guests.

🔗 Fixed an issue where links added to activities via the MCP server wouldn’t open in the app.

Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to give us feedback and report issues, it makes a big difference and we truly appreciate it.

Tripsy 3.9.4: Smart Route Improvements & More

To make sure you have the best experience with Tripsy, we work hard to deliver improvements and fixes on a regular basis, and our 3.9.4 release is no exception.

Let's take a look at what we're bringing with our latest update:

  • Smart Routes now remembers your transportation preferences and syncs them across your devices.
  • Improved how Smart Routes work around car rental pickups, drop-offs, and multi-day activities.
  • You can now add places directly from the map to your multi-stop routes on iPad and Mac.
  • Find nearby car rental locations more easily, with fixes for same-day drop-offs and pickup/drop-off time zones.
  • Turn any activity in your itinerary into a saved address.
  • Fixed an issue where activities added from calendar events may not show correctly in the map.
  • General fixes to email forwarding settings and notes.
  • Improved app stability, notably resolving crashes when opening Tripsy, copying trips, and using maps.

We've got more exciting features and tweaks on the way.

Tripsy & Shortcuts: Let There Be Light (Mode)

Of course, Tripsy looks amazing in both light and dark mode, but everyone has their own preferences and tastes and I know a lot of users who love dark mode for their devices, but want Tripsy in light mode.

Similarly, because we record all of our tutorials and take screenshots for our guides in light mode, for me as a dark mode fan I had to keep switching my system appearance - to the point I actually set the action button on my 15 Pro to be that toggle.

We've got a feature request to add an app-level toggle for this, like a lot of other apps do (e.g. Ivory by Tapbots), but this got me thinking - could Shortcuts help here?

The answer is yes, it can! Trying out the iOS 27 beta, and using the 'Describe your shortcut' feature, I simply asked it to change my device to light mode whenever Tripsy was opened and then revert once closed.

Shortcuts delivered, using the 'App' automation, it generated a shortcut that detected when Tripsy was opened or closed and would then toggle the system appearance.

Here's a link to that shortcut (keep in mind this was built with iOS 27, so it may not work with older versions, do let me know if it does!).

That automation feature isn't new to iOS 27 either, I just had a look back on my iOS 18 test device, and it's there too, under the 'Automations' tap within the Shortcuts app.

TripIt: 3rd Party Integration Issues

After receiving several support requests from users having issues connecting Tripsy to TripIt to bring over their past trips, we discovered that the TripIt API is 404'ing when users try to make new connections, and this is impacting multiple apps and services, not just Tripsy.

We've written up a post about this with some more details:
https://tripsy.blog/tripit-third-party-integrations-are-no-longer-working/

Anyone who has already connected their TripIt account before 28th August should still see there TripIt data is being imported, as existing connections do not appear to be impacted.

We genuinely hope this is a temporary issue on TripIt's side, so please do watch this space.

Calendar Feed Power Up!

Thanks to some really helpful feedback from one of our users, we identified an improvement we could make related to how timezones are handled for the calendar feed for our PRO customers.

I'm pleased to share that we've deployed some changes:

  • Each item in your calendar feed now has the appropriate timezone stored, rather than just relying on your calendar app to do the conversion from UTC. This means you should now see every activity with it's original timezone, and your calendar app should update this time based on your device's timezone.
  • We've also made some tweaks so that the locations for your activities should properly show up in supported calendar apps, which is great for using with things like Siri to determine when you need to leave to get to that dinner reservation!

You shouldn't need to do anything to see the changes, but if you don't see your events update just go to Settings > Calendar Feed within Tripsy and tap Refresh Calendar Feed Content.

Do let us know if you're finding this helpful?

Tripsy Can Bel the Window to Your Trips, Not an AI Chat Prompt

There's no denying that whilst LLMs can help you plan your trip, and that's exactly why we added MCP support to Tripsy (https://tripsy.app), the window to view your trip in all its glory is not an AI chat prompt.

Our co-founder, u/thiagosanchz has a great article on how Tripsy is very much that window to your trips, take a read here: https://localsinsider.com/travel-insights/tripsy-founder-thiago-sanchez-your-next-trip-shouldnt-live-in-a-chat-window/

3.8.12: Categories Come to Your Trip Expenses

We've just released our latest update to Tripsy (version 3.8.12) and of course it's full of lots of fixes and improvements. But, wait just a moment, we've also snuck in a little feature improvement that I know a lot of our PRO users have been asking for.

When creating an expense that's not linked a specific activity. you can now assign a category to that expense. This makes it much easier to organise those trip costs that aren't tied to something specific like a hotel stay, a train ticket. etc.

I've updated our guide on managing your expenses within Tripsy to reflect this change: https://tripsy.help/article/79-managing-your-trip-expenses#-umtfi

Happy travels!
