I had my yearly pap done on April 16th and a month later I got results stating my pap came back abnormal (ASC-US), the lab was supposed to follow through with HPV reflex but never did. I was freaking out for a while and ended up getting tested sometime early June for an array of things: mycoplasma, ureaplasma, yeast and BV. Three had come back positive: ureaplasma, yeast and BV.

I have since followed through with the treatment and will go back in to make sure those are no longer positive, in the next couple of weeks but my question is: do any of those cause ASC-US pap results?

I’ve been very stressed about this for a while now, the whole reason I had all those tests done was because when I went for HPV testing the obgyn I saw gave me what I believe was incorrect guidelines, she said the lab would have never tested for HPV if the result was ASC-US only if it was lsil or hsil but I was told differently by my other OBGYN? Very conflicting information for additional context I’m in the US. I was just told to follow up within a year for my next pap.

All of my previous paps had been normal 2022, and 2023 but I hadn’t had a pap since then.

I noticed over the last year my vulva has had some changes. As of January 2025 I didn’t have anything like this or at least - not as much as I do now, but 2025 was also a year where I had a bunch of yeast infections/one really bad bout of BV, symptoms were itching and I think I messed with the tissue a bit as I eventually had to ice due to how sore it was from the constant itching (tmi so sorry)

I did see two OBGYN’s who stated it is just normal anatomy but it worries me as it has been such a big change in the span of just one year… the most recent OBGYN said condyloma at first but then said she was leaning more towards VP as they were so small and barely noticeable until I pointed them out directly. I’m considering seeing another provider for a third opinion.

Additionally, I did also recently receive an ASCUS result and I am currently waiting for my reflexed HPV results which has also had me pretty stressed out. I’m 27!!
