[Garmin DC Mini 2] Biker lives another day

I almost creamed this biker earlier today. While I can clearly see him on the dashcam, I did NOT see him when I was driving. Luckily its a busy intersection and I was going slow.

I was paying attention to the car on my right, if you look, he waves to me because we had an interaction where I slowed down to make sure he didn't want to get into the spot where I was going. But he was trying to go straight into the gas station I came out of. So I waved to him and then BAM the biker came out from behind the utility truck.

Sorry for the odd pink hue to parts of the video. This is the first time I noticed it, dashcam might be dying.

1971 Gulf Zippo - Any Cool Details? Authentic insert?

I recently was given my late grandfather's favorite Zippo. I was given another awhile back that was a gift to him. A more recent (2000-ish) chrome lighter, unfired. However, this ( I believe 1971 due to date code ||| and || ) Gulf Zippo with his signature engraved was his daily lighter when he was younger and a smoker and also when he moved over to pipe smoking. My mom said she remembered it's distinct click when she was a young girl and always knew when she heard the click her dad was home and she was safe.

There was hardly any wick left at all and the flint had disintegrated or something, it was mostly powder. I have a small collection of my own and thus I stock authentic Zippo flint and wicks in my garage workshop! I replaced the wick, repacked the insides, and added a new flint and it works great. I'm curious if the insert is original or was replaced with aftermarket at some point? I don't see any Zippo markings on it. I'm going to mess with the little spring clip as it stays in the up position when opened and can't be closed. I think I've fixed a previous lighter with this issue.

Anything else cool the community can tell me about this lighter? I'll be doing some research. I'm excited to use it as intended. It's not just going to sit on a shelf!

Finished front deck, will MIL, stepmom, and mom fit with their individual hot tubs?

As the title says, I built this front deck myself. I've lurked on this sub for a long time. Did a ton of research, did the plans, pulled a permit, and complete this deck. Do you think it can hold my hot tubs and various mother figures?

Free standing deck, 6 posts. 5 of them are on helical piles, the 6th the ground was too rocky (we're talking boulders) and so my hole was so wide by the time I got them out I just did it the old fashioned way with a tube and concrete. I built the beams with 2 - 2x12s. One closer to the house, one away with 8 foot joists, 6 feet between beams. Deck ended up being 17 ft by 8 ft... they are 2x8. Originally planned it to be 18 ft, but ground also played a factor and I opted to lose a foot for my sanity. I did 12 oc joists for the 4 foot run by the door where we walk and slightly larger joist span for the rest of the deck. Composite decking and aluminum railing. I found steel stringers that worked really well for the steps.

Other than plugging some screw holes and some trim on the fascia board and closing in the sides of the stairs, I'm done! I'll have the town send out the inspector since the rest is just minor finishing work.
