Can book stay with Edit right before downgrading card?

Hello

I have a Sapphire Reserve that had the annual fee hit on 8/1. Due to some other stuff going on, I was not able to use up any of the hotel stay credits yet this year.

If I understood correctly, I should be able to downgrade or cancel the card by 8/30 or 8/31. My concern is more to understand if I can get any insight on the chance of clawback if I go ahead and book a stay to use the credits (Edit+IHG+$300) as soon as this week and then call Chase to downgrade the card by 8/30?

Any insight is appreciated!

API Tags on both apps 8/17 ~1 hour after call with USCIS Rep who processed a Tier 2 escalation... Is it because of the escalation?

Prior to today, the only internal API tag I had was on 821D only on 6/16. Any tags in between 6/16 and today were from evidence uploads for expedite request (expedite submitted 7/21) and pre-suit demand letter.

In the last 2 weeks, I was able to get some level of detail from USCIS contact center reps that my pre-checks are complete and my case is in "ready for adjudication" status since 7/21. Today I called again and again tried to get any kind of update or information regarding my case. The agent helped me with a Tier 2 escalation on my pending expedite request, which was a welcome surprise...

Anyways about an hour after that call, I noticed API tags for today on both of my applications. This cycle has been the worst thing imaginable and while I want to expect positive news, I'm not sure if these dates mean anything in terms of processing - In all honesty I am quite scarred by how hyped and excited I got after the 6/16 API tag lolBelow are the application and date related API details:

"formType": "I-821D",
"formName": "Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)",
"updatedAt": "2026-08-17",
"updatedAtTimestamp": "2026-08-17T20:16:38.110Z",
"cmsFailure": false,
"closed": false,
"ackedByAdjudicatorAndCms": true,

"formType": "I-765",
"formName": "Application for Employment Authorization",
"updatedAt": "2026-08-17",
"updatedAtTimestamp": "2026-08-17T20:16:38.158Z",
"cmsFailure": false,
"closed": false,
"ackedByAdjudicatorAndCms": true,

I know pretty much all of us who have faced this cycle's unexplained and unreasonable delays are in the same boat regarding confusion and lack of clarity for what many of these events mean. But I wanted to reach out here and see if anyone can provide some guidance on these API tags - Could it be due to processing (adjudication expected soon)? Or could it be due to the phone call and tier 2 escalation?

Needed some help to understand Service request result and what "Ready for Adjudication" means

Applied 03/19 from Texas

Biometrics 04/02 - originally scheduled for 04/13 but was able to reschedule for an earlier appt

Expired 07/28

API movement (821D only) on 06/16 - any following API pings were from document uploads on either/both cases

Expedite Request filed 07/21 - still pending

WoM Pre-Suit letter emailed (+uploaded) on 07/29 - mailed physical copy on 08/01

WoM sent follow up / reminder email (+uploaded) on 08/04

Various contact attempts with Congressman and Senators, generally keep getting response to keep waiting for reply from USCIS and for adjudication on my case(s)

Have attempted speaking with USCIS multiple times, including a service request entered on 07/13. Service request resulted in the following response on 08/03:

>On 07/13/2026, you or the designated representative shown below, contacted us about your case. Some of the key information given to us at that time was the following:

>Caller indicated they are:

>-- Applicant or Petitioner

>Case type:

>-- I821D

>Type of service requested:

>-- Check Case Processing

>The status of this service request is:

>U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records show your case is in line to be reviewed by an officer. We ask that you allow additional time since we process these cases in the order they are received.

>What You Can Do

>Please see the Online Services below to check the status of your case.

Separately on a call with USCIS last Friday 07/31, I tried to get the rep to give me as much information as possible, including current status and stage of adjudication, clearance on background check, and updates on my expedite request since it had been 10 days. The rep told me that, though I was initially informed that I can expect an answer on the expedite request in 10 calendar days, expedite is still pending in queue and there's no eta on when to expect an answer. When trying to get any possible info/update on my case, the rep told me that my case states "Ready for adjudication" but was not able to give me any further details on what that means, if background checks are cleared, when I can expect a decision on my case, etc.

Has anyone received similar update to their service requests or heard a similar "ready for adjudication" type of case status? Anyone knows what "ready for adjudication" even means here?
