People getting overly excited

Making some moves today, but the reality is that this will likely continue to chop around the lows here for a couple more months. Me personally, I'm hoping to see a leg down leading to a slightly lower low or at the very least revisiting the high 50ks or so to be able to deploy the remaining cash I have in reserve. This bear market is getting very close to being done and it will not take long for things to turn bullish again. There's a lot that can happen within the next 12-16 months, I wouldn't be surprised to see BTC break back above 100k within this time frame and flirting with the ATH or even setting a new one.

Thoughts on Solana?

I have a large amount of cash still in reserve to make some major moves over the next 2-3 months. I'm approximately 75-80% BTC and been in this space for a very long time. This year I've primarily been buying BTC in the 60k range, February and June were my heaviest months. I also scooped up a bit of ADA earlier this spring at these bargain basement prices but given I have a large position in that I'm thinking that will suffice for now. I also have some ETH but not super excited about that, would rather just buy BTC instead.

However, Solana is an alt I'm considering now and wanted to see what others on here thought of it. I'm also thinking about keeping things simple and just being 100% BTC with the remaining funds I have, but open to other possibilities as well. Just looking to take my time here and weigh my options, not in a rush to make a decision.

Solana or Link?

I have a sizeable amount of cash still in reserve that I'm looking to deploy later this fall, especially if we get another leg down.

I'm primarily a BTC maxi and been holding for a very long time, it makes up about 75-80% of my portfolio. The rest is ETH and ADA that I'm staking, both of which I've also had for a very long time. I have a VERY large position in ADA that I've had for a while now and I thought about loading up more because it's unbelievably cheap. The fact I could buy 50k ADA for less than $10,000 at under 20 cents is a crazy entry when it was trading at above 50 cents for almost all of 2025. However, I'm also a bit concerned about overexposing to just this one particular alt, which honestly gives me pause to reflect upon some other options.

I'm most likely going to invest at least 50% of this remaining capital into BTC but I'm considering either Link or Solana. I really am not too sure which one I want to go with here, Solana in particular I like because of it's staking rewards but LINK being under $10 I see as a solid entry point. I think both have a good amount of potential going into 2028 and beyond.

However, there's also a part of me that is thinking just going 100% into BTC just to keep things simple. I don't want to overspeculate on alts and looking back on my many years in crypto I would have been way better off just being 100% BTC the entire way through.

What alts are you guys buying or interested in?

I lean more towards being a BTC maxi, portfolio is roughly 75-80% BTC that I've had for a while now. The remainder of my crypto portfolio is ETH and ADA that I've been staking for a long time as well. I have a stack of cash waiting in reserve if we do in fact have another leg down from here and while I was originally planning on allocating 100% of it into BTC I'm considering the possibility of making some moves with alts, as they are quite cheap right now.

Looking to see what you guys are getting into here.

Decided to sell my shares

Was holding 309 shares and spent a lot of time debating whether or not to hold and let them ride or sell and reallocate into BTC/crypto. After some thought I decided to sell and was able to do so at roughly $66.40/share, for $20,500. Very happy the stock has done incredibly well since they were first distributed back in early 2024, and with the crypto market as low as it is right now it felt like the right move. I ended up getting way more back from this bankruptcy than I was expecting, and with still more distributions coming in I'm very thankful that this turned out as well as it has. I remember 4 years ago right after Celsius filed for bankruptcy I legitimately thought that all of my funds were gone and that I'd get nothing back, crazy to look back on all of this and the roller coaster it put us on.

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who made valuable contributions to my other threads pertaining to the debate I had between selling or holding.

reddit.com
u/ubermensch1001 — 5 days ago

What are you guys thinking this stock could potentially get to?

I have a little over 300 shares, mostly been hanging around $20,000 right now that I am quite happy with.

However, I'm seriously debating whether I should just let them ride OR sell fully and reallocate into BTC while it's trading at the 200 week. I would be able to accumulate roughly .3 BTC right now if I were to do this, which is nothing to sneeze at, crazy to think in 2020 this would have been $3,000 or less lol. Let's say in 2028 BTC is at 300k, this .3 is now worth $90,000. I won't even get into longer term stuff, but this is a very realistic price target in this given time range.

Now, for my shares to be worth 90k they would be valued at approximately $300/share, rounding for simplicity. That's close to a 5x in price from here. What exactly would have to occur for this to even happen and is this remotely realistic?

My biggest reason to consider KEEPING the shares is because of the AI arms race between China and the U.S and how they want to invest an unbelievable amount of money into this ecosytem. The issue is this capital doesn't exist, so it means some sort of massive liquidity injection to make this happen, almost like a COVID stimulus 2.0. BTC absolutely thrives in this type of environment, so it will just run along with the AI stock.

Right now leaning towards selling the shares and buying BTC but I told myself to give it some time to think it over. I currently already have a very solid crypto portfolio, which is why I'm considering both options.

To all the morons on here that shilled Cold Card

Just lol at the trolls coming out of the woodwork on here doubling down on the idea that Cold Card was a reputable company and that there were no signs of issues. Then it comes out that they were recommending this wallet to other posters on here and boom, look what happened. That wallet was shilled all over the place on this forum, a wallet that wasn't even in the top 10. None of this would have happened if these people had just stuck with the basic top wallets, and to top it off a Cold Card was expensive AF compared to the others. Are the other wallets perfect, hell no.

To all of you who recommended this garbage wallet, stop posting about crypto and just mind your own damn business, it's obvious you aren't to be taken seriously.

What people are missing with the Cold Card hack (my thoughts)

Everyone on here has obviously heard about the Cold Card hack, where the seed generation with their wallets being incredibly weak and predictable. I've also been seeing some things that suggest the company was aware of this "bug" years ago but yet did nothing about it. It's also interesting to me that it was so heavily shilled/marketed here on reddit.

With this out of the way, here's what I'm seeing with this event.

From what I've seen with a recent update, there were almost 5k wallets drained with a total value over $100m. These people otherwise did everything right but because of this garbage wallet that they used they had their funds essentially vanish. There were even some with short passphrases utilizing a couple words that also were victims of this as well, so people that would have taken some extra steps to try to protect themselves. While this is incredibly unfortunate for these individuals, the panic/freakout over self custody I'm seeing right now is severely overblown.

People are starting to question whether single sig wallets are sufficient and if they should use a passphrase, multi sig, etc. I also can see this event being taken by the media and tradfi institutions and used as a tactic to scare people from utilizing self custody and instead moving to ETFs and other BTC/crypto products. I understand the fear and uncertainty, but there's something that many on here seem to be missing.

As mentioned, this Cold Card hack drained approximately 5,000 wallets. Meanwhile, there are over 22 million BTC addresses with $100+ and 10.4 million with $1,000+. You had this garbage wallet that drained a number of addresses that is MINISCULE compared to the total number of addresses with $100+ worth of BTC in self custody. 1% of 22 million wallet with $100+ in BTC is 220k addresses, so this hack represents approximately 0.02% of these addresses, 1 out of 5000.

Instead of buying from one of the top companies that have sold millions of units (Ledger, Trezor, Tangem, etc.) these people bought some basically no name wallet that ended up having major flaws related to security. A Cold Card was also $250+ from what I saw, when you could have bought a basic Ledger or Trezor model for around $60 or so. The company according to the page I linked below also has a whooping 5 employees as of June of this year lol, to put this into perspective Ledger has over 800 and Trezor with over 200.

Coinkite - 2026 Company Profile, Team, Funding & Competitors - Tracxn

You are more likely to lose your crypto wealth/assets through user error when setting up and/or losing your seeds. If you are concerned about security, consider adding a strong passphrase to your primary seeds.

IF something like this had happened to one of the big cold wallet companies though, the ramifications for the broader crypto space would be enormous. With this said, I do NOT think that the general public will be utilizing self custody as we get into the 2030s and beyond, they'll primarily be boarded onto the crypto train through tradfi institutions.

Should I consider using a seedphrase and how to set this up?

I've been using my ledger for YEARs now and when I first set it up I was fairly paranoid about it lol. I made sure to verify that I had recorded the seeds correctly by bricking the device and restoring it, I've also done this on another wallet I bought as a backup because my original one was getting old. I knew NOT to expose this to the internet, no pictures of the seeds with my phone or keeping it on a computer file. I've also set things up where for someone to get physical access to the copy of my seeds would be virtually impossible. The pin code on my device is also a number no one would be able to guess, so it's not like some random thief would be able to access the funds that way either.

However, when I first set my wallet up I did NOT use a passphrase, at the time I didn't think it was really necessary given all of the other security parameters I had taken place. I was honestly more concerned about either losing the seeds themselves OR where someone would physically be able to get access to them, I never considered the possibility of the seed generation being potentially exploitable, like we saw with ColdCard.

I'm thinking about using my original seeds but then adding a passphrase, I was reading that 6 words from the BIP-39 list is considered very strong. These are fairly easy to keep a record of, not like it would be orangemanbad34%$R% or something like that lol. Is this all I would need to do and then just send the funds from my old address to the new one? Also, if you are using say 6 words would they literally be one giant passpharse like Monday-Saturday all together or do you add them as separate phrases like you do with your initial primary seed setup?

I'm looking to prevent an incident like with what happened with Cold Card but WITHOUT overcomplicating things to where I could lose access to my funds.

How complex should a passphrase be?

After this major incident with Cold Card and reading about what happened I'm looking to bolster my security by implementing a passphrase. I'm currently using single sig on a ledger wallet that I properly secured years ago.

When it comes to setting up the passphrase, if someone were looking to protect themselves, or at least buy time, how complex should it be? Would a handful of words suffice or is that too simple? I'm looking to do this without overcomplicating it to where there's a strong possibility of getting locked out of funds.

For instance, you could have 7 extra words like Monday through Sunday- Or you could have these same 7 words and add a !$%&# to them, etc.

To me it seems like if the seeds are somehow exposed or non original like with this CC incident, a hacker would have to manually go through each wallet AND decipher the passphrases.

This is what my losing sessions typically look like

I've been posting on here about some of my sessions with this little poker hobby of mine playing 1/2. I have no delusions of making any real money from this, but it gets me out of the house and I enjoy it.

I buy in at the 1/2 table for $150, 75bbs. For about an hour and a half I'm getting dealt hands like QJ, KJ, A10s, etc. and completely missing the flop or just slowly bleeding with the blinds. After "playing" for almost 2 hours I'm down to approximately $62 and was thinking about just calling it a day.

However, I'm in middle position with pocket 8s and raise to $7, my typical raise with no limpers. The guy to my very left calls as do the sb and bb.

Flop is 854 rainbow board, so hit top set. Checks to me and I thought about betting here but I decide to check to see if the last player to act, a gambling type, takes a stab it, instead he checks. Looking back on this, I do think a small cbet may have been a reasonable play here.

Hoping to see a face card or ace on the turn but instead it's a 3 of diamonds, bringing in a flush draw and now a potential for straight draws. SB and BB check and I throw out a small bet of $7 to see if I get a call. Guy to my left then raises to $27 and the SB and BB fold. With such a short stack remaining, I more or less instantly jammed all in, as I was only behind A2 or 67 and still had outs to improve to a full house, but I wasn't putting him on that. He thought briefly but with such a small amount remaining he elected to call.

River is a 2 of diamonds, so both the flush AND an easy straight got there and he turns over KJ of diamonds for a flush.

I decided to just call it a night.

Most of my losing sessions play out something like this and not so much punting in a crazy spot. However, I'm wondering if there are some things I should reconsider here.

Big hand from my last session (looking for input)

Last week I sit down at a 1/2 table and buy in for 75 BBs, $150.

Within a few hands I'm dealt KJ suited on the button. Middle position player raises to $10, no limpers, and I elect to call as does the bb.

Flop is KQJ rainbow board, so I hit top and bottom pair.

BB checks, middle position throws out a bet of $20. I elect to call in position to see what develops on the turn. However, I notice the BB goes to grab his chips as if to make a BIG raise but he quickly corrected himself and just called. This rang alarm bells in my head and the plan was to proceed cautiously on the next street, was thinking he possibly had A10.

Turn is a 6 of spades.

Going onto this street I was initially more concerned about the BB, but he instead checks. Middle position player throws out a bet of $30, at this point I was putting her on maybe something like AK, possibly aces or another two pair. I also thought about queens for a flopped set, but I suspected this was not what she had. With the BB checking I elected to call but then he jams all in, he had well over 150 bbs. Middle position player tanks for a while, so I didn't think she had a set of queens here, but she elects to call the all in. I quickly fold.

He turns over 910 off suit and she had QJ suited. River was a blank and he scoops the pot.

My experiences churning of checking account bonuses (long list)

I've been churning through various checking account bonuses since late 2025 and wanted to share my experiences with some on here, this will be a long list but maybe some will find this helpful.

To start, my brick and mortar bank for years has been Wells Fargo, though I also have an Amex HYSA.

These will be listed chronologically, still have others I plan on working on.

  1. Amex-$250 bonus. I began with this one as I was already a customer with the HYSA as mentioned, so it was super easy to set up. The limit was easy for me to get, and once it was reached I received this bonus within a couple weeks, easy money. Transfers to my main checking account were around 2-3 days. Customer service was excellent.
  2. Bank of America- $300 bonus for $5,000 deposited. This was easy to set up and the experience was typical for the mainstream brick and mortar banks. Went into a local branch once to set things up when I was having some issues with activating my card. Customer service there handled it quickly but their approach with customers is VERY sales driven. Once I qualified for this bonus this took a few weeks to receive. Transfers were around 3 days, easy.
  3. U.S Bank- $450 bonus for $8,000 deposited. This was a large requirement to meet the max tier for their bonuses but was easy for me. Customer service was solid and there are many locations in my area, so very easy to get things rolling. Transfers from this account and into my main account at Wells Fargo were day of on business days, which was incredibly convenient. Bonus appeared within a couple days of the paycheck that brought my total deposits to 8k+. Great experience here.
  4. Citi Bank- $325 bonus for $3,000 deposited. Aside from my Amex account, this was the first purely online checking account I had signed up for. Set up was super easy but customer service was honestly a mixed bag. Once everything was set up though it was totally fine. Transfers were average, would take maybe 3 days or so. Bonus arrived about a week after meeting the requirement. Easy
  5. B.M.O- $400 bonus for $4,000 deposited. This was super easy to set up but I have A LOT to say about this one. Never received my debit card upon first signing up and had to request another one, which I never got lol. I have multiple brick and mortar locations in my area, so it wasn't a huge deal. I went to 3 different locations, one was totally fine but I can't say the same for the others. With the 2 other locations, every single time I would be there to withdraw there was ALWAYS something going on. 2 of my visits I went there they were having a full blown technical shutdown with their system to where they couldn't serve customers. I had another visit with the location nearest to me where they couldn't serve the customer properly through the drive in window and it was absolute chaos in there. They were again having some technical issues but the manager had absolutely no clue as to how to handle anything. With the exception of the one solid location, it seemed like the workers at the other 2 that I had gone to didn't know what they were doing or were poorly trained. Transfers from this bank to my main checking account were also super slow, talking 5 business days, so I would more often than not just go in person to withdraw. I just completed the offer here and waiting on my bonus, overall awful bank though from what I've seen and I would never be a regular customer of theirs.
  6. Chime- $200 bonus for $500 one time direct deposit. This is a purely online based bank. Took a bit of time to set up, as I prefer computer over using the app, but once I got it figured out it was easy. My paycheck actually arrived early instead of the day of a typical scheduled payment, which isn't a huge deal to me but I was happy with that. I only have one transfer, so limited experience, but moving the funds over to my main checking account only took 2 business days. To receive the bonus, you had to obviously have the $500+ deposited in one paycheck but you also needed to activate the debit card, which comes in the mail. Took about a week for me to get it in the mail but upon activating it online the bonus instantly deposited into my checking account, literally just a week from start to finish lol. This was by far the easiest bonus out of all of them and for a purely online based bank was quite easy to use and fast.

My next target is Chase and also some local credit unions and banks that are limited to my area.

I've also thought about TD bank, which is offering bonuses of $200 or $300. The issue with this bank is the fine print states it takes about 6 months before paying out while avoiding their fees is a bit of an issue if you aren't willing to park cash on there to wait to collect the bonus. Compared to these other ones that were substantially easier, I naturally put this towards the bottom of my list.

Tipping dealers and profit (looking for input)

I play 1/2 as a hobby and I am slightly profitable. I've had 21 games this year, with an average time of 3 hours each, and I'm currently +$350.

With this out of the way, I tip the dealers fairly well but after a bit of thought after my last session I'm realizing that this is actually cutting into a good chunk of my earnings. The last session I had I booked a $120 profit, but I had tipped $20 total. I had two big hands where I tipped the dealer $6 and a few smaller ones. This doesn't seem like a lot in one given session, but over a span of my 21 games this is probably making a large difference relative to my earnings.

Up until now, I haven't really been paying a lot of attention to it, but now I'm starting to wonder if I should maybe reevaluate with how I tip. I don't want to be stingy and NOT tip, but I'm looking for some advice on this. Maybe just tip before the dealer leaves if I won a hand instead of tipping every winning hand? Tipping less?

Looking for some input on these hands

I posted a thread a week ago about being more disciplined with time management because of the last 2 sessions of me playing like an idiot.

Yesterday I go in and I set the timer on my phone for every 60 minutes, to where I would take a break and walk around to evaluate. I also was going to stay for 3 hours and then leave, which I also stuck with.

I got into many hands with this session but there were two that stick out to me.

About 40 minutes into the session I'm dealt JJ in late position. I make a standard raise and get 2 callers. Flop is KJ5 with two spades. Early position checks and then middle position player bets $20, I call and other player folds. Turn is a 9 of diamonds and he bets for $35. I thought about raising here thinking he could have been on a flush draw but I was also thinking about something like Q10 for a turned straight, so I call. River is a 7 of clubs and he downbets to $25. Again, I thought about raising but was concerned about Q10 so I just call and he turns over KJ off suit. I wasn't too worried about this spot and moved on.

The other spot here is interesting. I'm UTG with pocket 10s and I make my standard raise size for the game of $6 and get 3 callers. Flop is 227 with two spades and I throw out a bet of $20, I get one caller from late position. Turn is a king of clubs and I bet $15 and he calls. At this point I'm thinking he maybe has a spade draw or possibly has a 7, but also could see KQ or KJ of spades hanging around at this point as well. River is a jack of clubs, so flush misses, but I'm not sure if I'm possibly up against a K so I check. He checks back and we both ended up having pocket 10s, so we split the pot.

Rest of the winning hands I had were pretty standard and not worth writing about, booked a win of +$125.

Question about yoroi hack (cold wallet user)

I have my cardano assets on a cold wallet that is connected to yoroi, where I'm obviously staking.

I saw that there was a pause on the wallet and that with this epoch I did NOT receive my reward. Will this be paid out later on or is it going to be a temporary pause in payments? Should I consider staking with another wallet?

Right now, I'm thinking about just waiting before making any decisions but wanted to see if I could get some input on here.

Questions about redeeming NIGHT tokens

I've been holding ADA for quite a long time now. I have my assets on a ledger wallet that is connected to YOROI, where I naturally stake as well.

Late last year I successfully claimed my NIGHT tokens but I didn't plan to redeem for the thaw until later this year when my entire claim would be available in one go. I've kind of tuned out the ADA/NIGHT ecosystem so I'm not really up to date on this.

I have a few questions though.

  1. I notice on my airdrop page on yoroi it shows my NIGHT tokens available for thaws 1-4. However, at the bottom of the page it shows my allocation size and total left to redeem as MORE than what the 4 thaw periods would total out to. Is this just a glitch of some sort or am I actually eligible for the higher amount?

  2. When you do go to redeem, is this just like approving a transaction such as sending ADA from YOROI or is it more involved? It correctly shows my destination address and all that, but I'm still kind of paranoid about making some sort of mistake with this.

  3. When NIGHT tokens are successfully redeemed, what does that end up looking like on my yoroi page? Would it just be under my portfolio page or do I have to download the app from ledger that supports the asset?

Judging by the posts on here, we are either at or close to the bottom

Now that we are trading around the 200 week moving average, it seems like I'm seeing more and more bear/troll posts. BTC is going to 30k, it will never see a new all time high, blah blah blah.

Imagine we fast forward to the 2028 halving and BTC has set a new all time high. These same idiots will then be saying BTC is going to 500k and that it will never retrace.

Signal is obvious, this is the time to be accumulating or just continuing to hold.

Looking for some advice to work on emotions during sessions

I'm a rec 1/2 player that is slightly/barely profitable, this is a fun hobby I like to do that gets me out of the house to where I could buy myself an ice cream lol.

I'm typically very disciplined, but over the last couple sessions I've found that I've been playing like a moron. I've been either getting myself into really big spots chasing draws for no reason OR been going on some weird tilt.

This past week I had a session where I was playing pretty well for the first 1 1/2 to 2 hours, I was down by a good margin then found a spot to double up and then was up 2x+ from my initial buy in. The game was pretty good, but I ended up staying way longer than I usually do and I was getting fatigued. However, I started splashing around like an idiot because the table was loose AF and I was calling down in all sorts of strange spots and eventually stacked myself in a spot I normally would have found a fold in.

Looking back on this, all of this could have been avoided by just ending the session in my typical time range of 2 1/2 hours or so.

I'm also thinking about setting a timer on my phone and going for a walk every 45 minutes or so to get myself away from the table and evaluate where I'm at in the session.

Most people still do not comprehend Bitcoin's scarcity

I see all sorts of troll posts/comments across the internet, including on other subforums here on reddit, outright dismissing BTC and the direction it is heading. They'll argue over every little thing while completely disregarding the blatant evidence that BTC is about to become incredibly scarce.

Disregarding MicroStrategy, Blackrock and the other major entities, we have some very new players coming to the ecosystem, which are governments.

The U.S government right now is openly discussing ARMA, where they basically convert unrealized gains from Gold into BTC, with the intention of buying 200k BTC/year for 5 years, for a total of 1 million. They not only plan to buy this amount but then HOLD it for 20 years at a minimum. This means that close to 5% of the total supply to be mined will be taken off exchanges and locked away until we start approaching 2050 or possibly NEVER being sold, which is what is most likely to happen.

In addition to this, there are over a dozen states that are actively working on legislation to do something similar.

Texas for instance began with buying BTC related ETFs, but they are now looking to buy and hold actual BTC.

North Carolina is working on legislation where they buy and hold BTC as a strategic reserve and it can only be spent with a vote in the state congress AND for emergencies major projects, etc.

New Hampshire wants to start a fund where they buy precious metals but also BTC.

The list goes on and on, there are too many for me to get into very specific details but there is a clear pattern there.

This all represents BTC that will be bought up, locked into storage and kept off exchanges for YEARS. What's insane is that this is just the U.S government and some state governments, which means more states will get onboard and maybe even cities, local governments, etc., albeit on a much smaller scale.

We also aren't even considering other nations as well.

Very recently Taiwan is having discussions pertaining to beginning a BTC strategic reserve.

The list goes on and on.

You will continue to see more nations, states, local governments, etc. following suit.

In addition to all of this, you still have tradfi institutions, Microstrategy, etc. buying up as well as retail investors. Let's say over the next 2 years there are 10 million people across the planet that learn about BTC and want to self custody .005 BTC on average, which right now is approximately $325. This would take 50,000 BTC off of exchanges and locked into cold storage. To put this into perspective, by the halving of 2028 there will be only 630k BTC remaining to be mined.

It's absolutely wild that people are still dismissing all of this but those that understand this will do quite well.
