Vehicle to Home regulations in Canada

We were very disappointed to find out that the regulations for vehicle to home hasn't yet been undated as with our EV and Solar array, we could be energy independent at this point. I sent off both our MP and MLA this...

"We're hopeful for regulations that will allow us to use our EV as a whole home battery backup system in conjunction with our solar array. I know this is pending Canadian Electrical Code and CSA installation and standards certification but I also understand there are regional trials for this technology. We'd like to be one of those trials if possible. We can do our part with the increasing demand for electricity by being energy self-sufficient.

As we move into the future with huge increases in electrical use with the advent of data centers and EV adoption, this technology will help to alleviate some of the strain on the existing grid. We simply want to be able to generate our own power and store it affordably. Our car is capable of this but unfortunately this hasn't yet met the regulatory standards. It seems to me an opportunity for the Conservative party to have an issue that they could win on federally by pushing for this to be fast tracked. "

I'm curious of people's thoughts. Am I barking at the moon?

Scanning Kodak Disc Film at 17,000 dpi input resolution

The heart wants what the heart wants.

I explained to the client that our lowest resolution scan (12 megapixels) was plenty of resolution for the tiny disc film frame but they wanted as much resolution from their film as possible. So...I pulled out the Novoflex extension tubes and our carrier riser and managed to eek out a 35 megapixel scan of the 8mm by 10mm disc film frame. The Linos float lens in the scanner keeps things tack sharp with so much extension.

So...what's enough resolution? For the most part I'm a believer in the standards and targets laid out by FADGI for cultural heritage digitization. These are the standards used by top museums. The standards used by the Smithsonian for instance. FADGI's top standard for film scanning is 4000 dpi input resolution. Our lowest resolution scan of a disc film frame, 12 megapixels, is still 9000+ dpi input.

Anything beyond 4000 DPI input resolution for film scanning, will likely capture no detail that is useful to the clarity of the image itself but resolving down to the grain can be important to the feel and texture of an image, especially with large magnifications and blowups.

The scanner is our one of a kind POAM scanner (Phase One Achromatic Multispectral) at Film Rescue International.

Memory issues with Remixes

I use Pistol Whip almost daily as my exercise routine. I really love the Remixes. I have a Quest 2 64gb headset. If I'm subscribed to more than about 20 remixes, I start to have issue which I suspect is due to my low memory headset but even though I have removed all my other games from the headset and check my memory when I'm subscribed to a lot of remixes, it still shows I have a lot of memory left. I suspect that only a certain amount of memory is allotted to be used by Pistol Whip so I can only subscribe to so many maps. Is this correct?

Also, If I got a new 256mb Quest 3, would this problem go away. I would like to be able to subscribe to remixes without worrying about the app locking up and crashing as it does now if I have too many subscription.

Or perhaps I have some other issue
