When did humans first begin to lie?

How early in human evolution did the ability to say what was not true develop ? Google said it had to happen gradually but do any other animal societies have the ability? How would one test that? The best I could come up with was that it had to have been beneficial to avoid danger, or was it more of a resource gaining thing that theoretically would have been more reasonable? Are there any good books you can recommend on the subject that I can look for?

Share your Special Interest event on August 21, 2026 in St. Catharines at Adam’s Flora

Have a special interest and no one to share it with? Make something that you are proud of but have no one else who cares? Create art without an audience? Find something that you think is amazing? Have a cool story? Want to listen to others share what they love? Awesome! Come and share with a group! Each person has a few moments to share and everyone else listens. That’s it. Think Show & Tell from kindergarten, but for adults. The whole point is having people connect and share, so respectful listening is required. Presenting is not required, but highly encouraged, so if you are uncomfortable please let organizers know.

*This is not for hateful, violent, explicit, vulgar, or highly sexual material. Thank you.*

Genuine question, where does a woman meet men like Aes? Where do you spend time that you’d be open to actual conversations?

I get that Aesop is famous, so actually getting to know him is not likely going to happen, but I figured his fan base would have things in common with him. So, how do I get to know men like you, generally speaking? what would make a woman attractive enough to warrant your attention? I’m not looking to change who I am, I’m fairly secure in that, more curious if I already am what this specific group sees as appealing. More of a thought experiment than anything.
So, those here attracted to women, when would you approach one to form an actual connection?

To Ian, Aesop Rock with love, thank you.

I love Aesop’s chaos and contradictions. I love the quiet, awkward, stoic man doing puzzles in flannel. Fiddling with knobs, or buttons, or paint, or taxidermy, or puppets, or whatever. I love that what you are getting into is constantly changing and yet somehow always familiar. I love your loyalty and dedication to the people and causes you care about. I love your talent for novelty and for consistently subverting my expectations. I love your goofy smile, and the way you silently mouth the words sometimes when you read. I love your sniffles, and sighs, and groans and all the sounds you might make. I love how I can see so much, but know so little about you. Maybe in another lifetime I will get that chance. I certainly hope so.
