How to properly introduce a macaw to a new home?

I'm planning on getting a macaw sometime in the future, and i want to know the best ways to keep them as calm and happy as possible when they've recently moved into my home.

I mostly want to know how quickly and how often i should start to interact with them and if there's any way to make them feel more comfortable.

Would this cage be okay for a blue and gold macaw?

I'm struggling to find a cage online that seems suitable for a macaw. Would this one work? Bar spacing is 2.5cm.

I will not be getting a macaw for quite a while, just trying to plan for if i eventually do get one.

Tell me about your birds in the comments!

Hi everyone, i'm currently recovering from surgery and don't have much to do. I'd love to hear about everyone's pet birds (or other pets if you want) and their personalities and see some photos of them.

Thank you in advance!

I want to get a blue and gold macaw. What are some things i should be prepared for, and what should i buy?

Hi everyone. I've been doing research on different species of parrots as i want to get one and the one i've wanted the most since the start is a blue and gold macaw. I've loved every single one i've met despite the biting and the noise and the mess, and i want to have one in my life permanently.

What are things that you need to know about caring for a macaw, buying stuff for them, cleaning up after them etc. I know a lot of basic parrot knowledge, so i'm looking for stuff that's specific to macaws or to larger species in general, but any advice is appreciated. Even the smallest details help. Thank you!

Could someone draw any of my birds?

Unfortunately due to circumstances i've had to rehome my 4 birds. (First 4 shown in the images are the ones i rehomed). The other 3 passed away, which contributed to my mental health getting worse until i needed to rehome the ones i still had. I'm really missing my birds right now and i'd like to have some drawings of them. Thank you.

What species is best for me?

Hi everyone, i'm looking to get a parrot and i wanted to ask about what species sounds like it'd be right for me.

I want one that'll like to hang around me. On my shoulder, on my hand etc. This doesn't need to be constant, and i don't need them to be cuddly.

I want one that can be harness trained and likes going outside/is curious about new places.

Size wise, i'd prefer something bigger. Minimum green cheek conure size. This isn't a requirement though, if there was a species that'd be good for me that was smaller i'd still consider it.

I am allergic to the dander produced by cockatoo family birds and african greys, so those aren't good options for me.

Thank you to anyone who can help!
